HTC desire
got wet on the window ledge ๐
Was still on. whipped the battery out and dried as it looked like surface water only.
Rebooted fine, except time was wrong and also the apps on teh sd card appeared to be dud links.
Then its turned its self off ๐
****ed or saveable?
Stick it in a bag of rice overnight - that'll take any moisture left out of it. Worked for me in the past.
it says "void" in the bottom corner on the back now - never seen that before ๐
Battery, sim and memory card out, leave for a couple of days in bag of rice in airing cupboard. Might want to clean the contacts on the battery/cards with some IPA before they go back in.
its ok - a tamper proof screw by the looks
worth putting above the rayburn?
Nowhere too hot, about body temperature is best. Electronics are generally specced to work up to about 50C.
The point is to allow the moisture to evaporate naturally while there is no battery or other stuff that could cause problems with shorting.
If it were me, i'd leave it for a couple of days in an airing cupboard in a bag of rice. If you have problems turning it on after that, clean the contacts with IPA.
If you still have problems after that, you might be looking at replacing bits or the entire phone.
I've had phones work perfectly well after a good soaking. Not tried the rice thing but last time left it in a warm place sans battery & sim etc. I do believe phones can have an irreversible indicator when they get wet for warranty purposes. Not sure what it looks like but a label that now says void seems reasonable.
Is India Pale Ale really that good for cleaning contacts? I'd have thought they'd get all sticky... ๐
its now in a tupperware box with a bag of rice - heres hoping!!
woop rice worked ๐
