Sampling some of this tonight, it's a tad weird... uses barley malted over a fire of beechwood logs, gives it a flavour very reminiscent of smoked cheese or even bacon, it's, ummmm, interesting...

What're your weird beers then?

I know... but to be honest, it's more of a 'smoked cheese' taste, kind of reminiscent of bacon, but all in all just a 'smoked' flavour, like I say, it's a bit odd... goes down OK though ๐Ÿ™‚

One of me fave 'speciality' beers is Meantime Raspberry wheat beer. Simply awesome. And it's part of yer Five a Day, so the more, the healthier! ๐Ÿ˜€

Last Xmas I tried some Xingu Brazillian black beer (Google it, it's, erm, 'unusual' in it's production...). really really nice.

I do like a nice wheat beer. The Barley Mow in Limehouse (now a ponced up Gordon Ramsey pretentious shithole) used to have a wheat beer on tap that was proper cinnamonny, but I can't bloody remember what it was called. Rathaus, Paulaner and Weihenstephaner are all delicious wheaty beers (it's virtually liquid bread, with all that wheaty goodness). Each has it's own distinct unique flavour, some are sweeter, some more 'spicy' or citrusy. The Sam Smiths wheat beer is another fave, and has a hint of banana.

Meantime also do a Chocolate Stout, that apparently uses real cocoa in it's manufacture. Nice in smaller measures, that one.

Have tried the chocolate stout, 'tis not bad, though as you say, in small doses. Not a huge fan of wheat beers for some reason, probably the yeasty nature of them I guess (though, could just be because most of my experience with 'em is Hoegaarden, haven't really sampled many others).

I have a bit of an allergy to brewed barley, so wheat beers are my #1 choice.

Opoh! What's yer fave, Onion?

Weihenstephaner Kristalweiss has a hint of Pear Drops. I don't know the science bit but this is because of how the alchohol is produced or something (esters?), and each process is different, so that's what gives each beer it's own subtle signature.

Had a Pilsner at Xmas, Bitburger; one of the nicest Pilnser's I've drunk.

Ooh, I do like a nice beer, it must be said.
