Android tablet here, adverts and news bit on RHS now covers posts so can't read! Still zoom issue. No different landscape or portrait.

They just need to change the viewport meta tag to bring back zoom

All the stw Dev should take from 99% of "complaints" is some people can't handle change

Sound like the words of a management consultant/organisational change consultant 😉

Change is great as long as it's for the better.

On the mobile-oriented site the user experience has gone backwards.

Desktop version works well for me on safari/Mac. Not tried on Windows/chrome...

STW must have employed the same website people as Smile Bank did.

I've gotten in the habit of writing a full stop before I long press and paste now to get rid of the disappearing bracket ting. Easier to find than a square bracket on my Android.
Thought it was only me who it happened to.

Obviously not - still doing it too.
Regardless of touchpad, mouse, trackpad or browser

Argh, no! So this is an actual thing. Thought something was wrong with my phone yesterday. Haven't read the whole thread but why has this happened? Different text sizes, can't zoom, ads in the middle of threads, having to click about 4 different things to change from one forum to the other, etc. It all worked fine as it was! It's like when supermarkets change things around, it's annoying and unnecessary. It's not about not liking change, why change something just for the sake of it, or am I missing something?

There's one bonus with this. I won't be wasting so much time on stw as it's unusable on my phone now.

+1 for the ads blocking / covering half of the text on posts (iPad/Chrome).

No one has complained about the lost Share button.

In fact nobody could even be moved to comment on your comment. Sums that one up I think....

STW's userbase isn't likely to spawn the next "man punches kangeroo in the face" as we'd just try to have a reasonable conversation about returning the dog. Or give up and go for a pie before writing the dog off as old-tech and fitting a new boost dog.

These green buttons are actually interesting me: Why the colour, it can't be an accident? So is SW is going to start using Pantone 4242 ["Mushy Pea"] as their corporate colour? It's a bit northern-specific eh?

Relax.

I'd tentatively suggest it might be the android OS, only because mine was doing it, but stopped a month or two ago. What android version are you currently on?, mine is 6.0.1

Idea- currently when shortening the urls
actually, you could just make the post count on the right clickable rather than adding the page box with no loss of space

Personally I'd prefer it if the 'Pages:' list was

1 ,prev, current, nxt, last, jump to: _____

But this green is a consolation meantime 🙂

I don't appear to be suffering the same problems as many. I use a mix of devices.

On 2 windows laptops (one W8, the other W10) and using Chrome, the desktop site doesn't appear very different than 2 days ago.

On mobile devices - Chrome on Android the mobile version generally OK (the variability in text sizes a little odd); and on my iPad2 it seems to work - I am certainly not getting the issues that many have raised.

I'm not a Premium member, so don't think that has an impact.

However I have never posted from a mobile device, so not idea if that experience has changed (for many, it would appear so)

This is what happens if I just C&P without un-highlighting the last ]

On Mac - I never bother even attempting to C&P on the phone - EVER its that bad.

I am one of the biggest moaners when it comes to STW's IT practices, but you should really say why you can't use it......

....but then I guess why should you. As STW seem to be carrying out a live test with no warning, no thread specifically created for bug reports and only Cougar seems to be trying to engage with the users.

All the stw Dev should take from 99% of "complaints" is some people can't handle change

Yeah. That's exactly what is happening here.

Comforting to discover this morning that "Remember me" is as rock solid a promise as ever it was.

@hammyuk To quote I copy whatever text then click the "Quote" button which gives me this:

[ quote ]

I then paste in the text I've copied to give this:

[ quote ]Quoted text

then click the "Quote" button again to give:

[ quote ]Quoted text[ /quote ]

I never have the problem of anything in the destination text box being highlighted.

no thread specifically created for bug reports

As far as I'm aware, the dev(s) are actively reviewing what's being discussed on this one. I agree that an 'official' one probably should've been created, but this is serving that purpose for now.

I've never had a popular thread before.

I find more it odd not seeing when the last post was made now.

But in a galaxy note 5 it is behaving fine for me, although there was an earlier menu that was a bit smaller that I liked more.

Me neither, and that's on a range of Android devices over a decent timescale so many versions of the OS and a range of browsers. Weird.

More weird behaviour here.

Using the desktop site on Win 7 / IE if I click into a thread from the forum and then use the back button on the browser to return to the forum menu, it takes me back to a (presumably cached ) version of the menu from yesterday where page 7 of this thread was at the top.
Didn't do it before and I've tried to replicate the same behaviour on other sites with no success.

Also, sometimes I can't get my printer to work. 😉

On Android mobile you can't jump to the main forum overview. Just back to chat and bike (depending on the post)

Although you could go through the pop out menu at the top but that's rubbish

Is there a RSS feed for the forum that's not been activated? Or perhaps (longshot) it's compatible with the list on the following link as Tapatalk would solve a lot of the mobile issues.

With regards to moving the forum over to a different platform, it wouldn't take a mysql specialist that long to import the database into the new platform. The most popular forum platforms already have an importer that could fairly easily be modifed to import your database. I'm no specialist but have done this in the past in about a day of ball ache and that was with a forum a ton more complex than what we have here. I can help out if needed, just ask.

Ads are still covering the right hand side of the screen, on an iPad mini. Still no zoom.

If you haven't seen it, Mark's just posted an update.

(which leaves me with a quandary as it's a duplicate £$%^ing thread...)

I posted this on the "Forum on iPad" thread but it's worth doing just to make sure that you are getting all the new resources and not any from the old site. Looking at the source it *looks like* the main stuff is versioned but I don't have the source of the old site to compare.

To clear your cache:
on Windows is Ctrl +F5
on Mac it's Cmd + Opt + R
On iOS there's a couple of ways: go to Settings, Safari, Advanced, Website Data then find STW and clear the data (this will include login data) or force quit Safari (click the home button, then double-click the home button, press and hold the Safari icon in the multitasking bar, then tap the red dot), it appears that Safari will clear its cache. But this will clear the entire cache, not just a single page

For me personally the forum is too bright especially after last nights xmas work do.

There's an extension for chrome to turn the brightness down (adjustable) if anyone is interested...

(Can't remember if I said this in this or the other thread)

My gripes:
(On mobile)
No OP details on the main page (for deciding wether or not I want to read a thread)
No 'last poster' details
Thread titles cropped to...
No jump to most recent post.

Not the end of the world, but not perfect. I don't have a problem with the adapt to fit but most (all?) devices have a zoom in/out function, so is it necessary, if it means cutting content?
