Can anyone recommend some accommodation in Aviemore? Not too expensive.

We're climbing and biking so preferably somewhere cheap, friendly and sociable where there's a realistic chance for a bit of chat and a drink with other bikers and climbers in the evenings.

Glenmore Lodge has accommodation and it's primarily outdoor types that use it. If you want to pay a bit more then I can recommend the Cairngorm Hotel.

Pinebank Chalets are very good. Used them every time I've been staying in Aviemore. Nice and friendly owners, pretty cheap, the cabins are clean and warm, excellent pub next door and close to Aviemore for a bit more socialising.

Plus, the food is aimed at people who've been outdoors all day working on their appetites - not the best, but good enough and epic quantities.
Decent bar as well with fine view out to the cairgorms. Populated mostly by people who've been biking/climbing etc. Basic though

A bit removed from the Aviemore metropolis though

+ 1 for Pinebank, we've stayed there quite a few times now.

The accomodation is near to pubs, shops and Rothiemurcus etc is only a very short cycle ride away.

There are quite a few holiday homes on the Silverglades estate which is still within easy walking distance of shops and pubs. Rothiemurcus must still only be around 2 - 3 miles away.

We've not long come back from Aviemore ourselves and stayed on Silverglades. We used Cairngorm Higland Bungalows and got a good deal.
