Yes but there will probably be better alternative routes on the outskirts. once you are at morden/colliers wood it's just another london road with a blue bike lane

I've cycled from horsham to Worthing on the 24 on the fixie.
Once.
At about 25mph.
To get home as quickly as possible.
As it was scary.
Avoid.

If you ride like a dick, no.
If you ride sensibly, yes.

Pretty much the same as any busy main road, I'd say!

It's ok from Dorking to the L'head by pass as it has a cycle path parrallel to it, we tend to cut through L'head as the next bit is narrow and not pleasant, after l'head it's ok all the way to morden and then traffic central into town (but it does have big blue bike lane). You could cut up box hill through headley and hit epsom to pick up the a24 there.
