Going to be a twunt of a drive.

A1 blocked northbound and southbound where I live in Newcastle due to two separate incidents.

All roads ungritted, even with a weeks notice of the snow.........must be groundhog winter again in the UK.

They were gritting around Newcastle last night around 11 & they were still at it this morning when I left at 05:30

I would be getting ready to go out now if it wasn't for the dentist appointment at 10am I'd forgotten about.

Wonder he'll will make it over from Jesmond? 😡

they were gritting round these Worcestershire parts last night. Which is going to be a faff now because all the cattle will be out on the common road enjoying free salt lick 🙂

It was carnage when they tried testing a new "salt with molasses binder" mix a few years back. It was like trying to drive through a stampede. What a dumbass idea 😉

Gritted all night here. Frost free and blue skies this morning.
How would we cope without the Emergency Liason Officers in their shiny suits and plastic shoes.

It's not bad carbon roads are covered but a bit traffic and it'll clear. They closed the A1 here last night as it's contra flow for about 6 miles and blizzards meant visibility was very poor.

Gritters have been out but heavy snow means it's futile, add that it's rained for a week before that so pre-gritting was a waste of time. Not that they grit snow anyway as it's pointless.

3-4 inches here (north of Durham). Traffic going nowhere. I'm off sledging! 🙂

Just had to abort the drive to work. I didn't even make it out of the village! (Wylam, Northumberland)

There is a queue of cars trying and failing to get up the hill out of the village. The road is solid ice. No grit.

I gave up when I saw the 4x4 ahead of me sliding backwards down the hill towards me. 😯

I'll be living in the countryside again once my lease is up on this flat. Probably go back to Hexham although Prudhoe's cheaper and still has riding from your door.

Just been for a walk and it looks like the plough has been through so I'll give it another bash.

Jon, yeah I live in Wylam and work in Gateshead... far preferable to the other way round 😉

Used to entertain me no end last year watching that when I lived in Wylam.

2:30 to get from Fawdon to Sacriston today.

30 minutes to get from the A1 Chester-le st roundabout to the next roundabout on the a167.

Total chaos. The A1 was blocked just after the metrocentre on that cheeky corner, radio said the driver had minor injuries and went to hospital, is he expecting any sympathy from me?

it took my wife 1.5 hours to get from Whitley bay to Byker metro before her school phoned up to say no one else had made it in, don't bother coming in.

It took a little over thirty minutes to get from whitley bay to longbenton on the bike, had to go a bit slower than usual as overtaking all those cars on the outside was getting a bit dicey towards the end as the snow was getting deeper and deeper in the centre of the road as I got further west

I had a horrendous journey from Gosforth to Gateshead/Felling.

Traffic backed up and barely moving. Took me at least 5 minutes longer than usual to cycle past them all and I had to take my mountainbike rather than commuter.

Same here Drac. If they get snowed in there then it could be expensive! 😯
