He's been home nearly two weeks now and has settled in well; a few reduced sleep (for us!) nights but he is getting much, much quieter now.

Had no idea that puppies can pee and pooh so much!

Never had a fog before so this a learning experience for us as much as it is for him - but all good so far! ๐Ÿ˜›

Awww, he looks sad. Give him a bone or something.

How;s he getting on with your cat? Or is that just a funny birdtable?

Lovely dog, but looks concerned. Have you made a fuss of him yet today?

He's got plenty of toys now and gets lots of attention! The top three photos were taken within moments of him arriving after over a stressful journey home in the car - he'd been rather sick.

That'll be the cat 'pedestal'! Two cats; they've kept their distance so far - Charlie is curious and wants to be friends but his methods may not be working for them...

We're just about to take him out for the first time...

Whippets are mega, although you may find 1 is not enough.

You might want to think about having his dew claws removed whilst there still soft.

it can cause terrible damage to a whippets leg if it gets pulled off.

Our looked like that when he arrived home, ears down.

Has the stealing/destruction started yet?

I think he's still got to grow into his ears! Some mild destruction and he has started to get a bit more chewy over the last few days... no stealing as yet!

Not thought about the dew claws, Merchant-Banker... shall investigate.

My whippet Florence is coming up for 11 and when she goes I'll definitely get another one (or two). They are so undemanding, just as happy curled up on the sofa as charging round the fields chasing rabbits. Get him a coat for the winter, they have zero body fat so really feel the cold.

Ah lovely - another whippet owner here - ours is 2 years old now

In my experience they always have a slightly concerned expression

That laminate floor is going to provide many hours of comedy value, especially when he learns what the door bell means...

You might want to think about having his dew claws removed whilst there still soft.

Leave his thumbs alone! When you're out, how's he going to use the kitchen appliances without thumbs?

(it's a problem for some whippet/greyhound/lurcher dogs, not others).

Lovely looking pup by the way. It took our cat 18months before she got used to our lurcher. Occasionally, the cat still lives life on a knife-edge, but that's her own fault for running....

Our lurcher has never had an issue with dew claws. She has ripped some others off though. Not pleasant.

You can get travel sickness tablets for dogs from your vet.

I used to get them for our dog - she was miserable and would throw up even on a 4 mile journey. Getting the tablets meant she could enjoy trips out for new walk areas and going on holiday with us.

As someone myself who gets very very travel sick, I could not condemn a pet to feeling so very ill. Feeling travel sick is indescribably awful, you just want to die and thats not an exaggeration.

I have had 3 dogs (not greyhound types) and none of them ever lost a dew claw. I would do a lot of research before deciding to amputate any part of a dog, the claw is there for a reason and its not like you can put it back on if its the wrong decision!

Dew claws are very necessary for good bone destruction. Occasionally the dumb Huxley breaks one of his attempting to turn at full speed, They don't tend to get fully ripped off just broken below the quick.
Chasing a ball he seems to forget the hard won lessons about not attempting to stop dead from full speed or turn too sharply. It's like a car chase from the Dukes of Hazzard with the amount of rolling over or falling he does.

Awwww, lovely looking pup. Yep, that facial expression is typical . . .

. . . although JD is a staffie/whippet cross.

We were a bit concerned about his dew claws at first but vet was just happy to keep them trimmed. Definitely gonna get one of those hoodies though 8)

Looking forward to the updates.
