617 squadron found out what they'd been training for...

Respect to them all.

It took long enough to recognise the part they played and honour them.

Wasn't there a thread here once with all the relatives of STWers that were in bomber command?

Anyone have a relative that was on this raid?

The dad of a friend of mine was in 617 Squadron, "Paddy" Gingles, an astonishing man, truth be told he was a lunatic ๐Ÿ˜† he didnt go on the Dam Buster raid but was credited with hitting the Tirpitz.

Won a DFC but had it taken off him because they buzzed a cricket ground in a Lancaster to see what the score was. Scared the crap out of a lot of people.

There is a lot about him on the net including a funny story from a few years ago of mistaken identity.
