Olympic themed coins. I'd never buy one... seems wrong.

Is it legal ?

Quite fancy a bike and archery one.

How much are they going for, I'll have a few if they are about 35p each !!

I think it is illegal if they are sold for less...and I think (but not sure why I do) they have to be in circulation for a period of time before they can be sold for more i.e. collector item.

Does the Royal Mint not do special coins and sell them at face value but you pay a wee bit for postage? Perhaps they are being sold at face value but postage might be a tenner or something?

I wanted to buy some money off the bank a while ago, in fact it wasn't actually the money I wanted, it was going to cost me a lot more than face value as they added things like commission, costs and interest. All a bit of a rip off if you ask me.
I didn't take them up on the offer and now look at the state of the banks. Done 'em good and proper, I did. 😀

I bought my sons the olympic football 50p coins each as a keepsake because we went to an olympic football match. They cost 3 pounds each!

Inflation seems a little out of control.

However if you are going to print money best try and sell it for more that it's worth.

I got given a £2 'In Peace Goodwill' coin in some change a while back. When I realised, I first thought I'd got a dud, but turn out people will pay stupid money for them! Still got it, but a browse or e-bay would suggest some mug could pay anything up to £60 odd quid for it!

Slightly off topic, has anyone bought any of the royal mail golden stamps yet?

Seen my first one last night in the pub, trap shoot one, the barman found it in the till and chucked it back in. I might message the owner now tell him to put it to one side.

I got a sailing one today, and like I've said, i'm not really interested. If anyone is that keen, they can have it.
