I've got 5 wheelie bins, normal household size, a group of "volunteers" and use of tools found in a school techie dept.

My thought is to make things for the pupils with moderate to severe needs as they have access to a garden (which due to politicians they may be about to lose).

My Google fu is low and I can't find pics that's we could design from for either storage or growing of stuff(veg or flowers). They need to be accessible from a wheelchair and keep the mobility, so they don't suffer vandalism/theft.

Please STW help.

Don't they belong to the council?

^ that.

RHS will have a development worker who may be able to help - https://schoolgardening.rhs.org.uk/home

If you apply nicely, one of my colleagues can help with money and training - http://www.ltl.org.uk/naturegrants/index.php

Could also cut them in half, vertically to make a pair of planters for herbs or whatever?

No idea, but "5 Wheelie Bins" sounds like a great title for a Ken Loach film

Me also. Drives me nuts. The front of my house looks like a bin store.

I once saw a project that used a composter inside a wheelie bin to heat water. Not sure what use you'd put the hot water to though.

Yes, sorry planters etc. Matt will look at that closer.

Cougar, these are the gardening waste bins which are no longer used as there's no gardening waste collection. The council suggested people might make them into compost bins, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind another arm of the same organisation using them to give some disadvantaged kids opportunities to broaden their experience Base.

Edit, actually I know they're not keen but **** em, they've got thousands sitting in a field just in case, but are giving out brand new bins.
