I bought the 24 complete boxset earlier this year for the missus and I to watch after getting rid of Sky. We both loved The Wire, Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire.

So far, we're nearing the end of 24 - Day 2, and we're both getting a bit frustrated with it. Particularly the way Jack's daughter seems to find ever more ridiculous ways of getting into trouble, but still wanders around being niave and trusting total strangers, even though ever stranger she meets is at best a weirdo, at worst a lunatic. And the ridiculous way characters suddenly turn from good to bad just to add yet another twist to the plot.

So, does it get any better after Series 2, or is more of the same?

We have the Breaking Bad boxset waiting in line....

Thank you!

It's not more of the same - well, not completely, obviously Jack still runs around kicking a$$ 🙂 - for a start the daughter features less prominently. I started watching Day 3 and I reckon that it's good from there.

YMMV of course...

Stick with it. I liked it a lot, it does change as you go through it.

I'm currently on a "breaking bad fest" and loving that too.

These bits are the comic relief. "And then I escaped from the kidnapper and got attacked by a mountain lion!"

I vividly remember that bit due to Wifey seeing Kim wandering in the mountains and saying "I bet she gets chased by a mountain lion"

And she did!

After that you just need to count how many times an episode someone says "Goddam it, Jack" to keep the interest alive.

wait until the day 3 (4?) she's practically the head of CTU.

started off as unplausible, entertaining nonsense, became a parody of itself (and not in a clever way), and then slid ungracefully down the hill of shite.

watch season 1, then pretend that was the end.

(a bit like the matrix)

For me Day 2 was the worst of the lot. The plot seemed to basically be a repeat of Day 1 with added daughter idiocy...

IMO, it's definitely worth sticking with. But I'd maybe buy a different show's box set as well and alternate seasons as I think I'd find 8 solid seasons of 24 a bit samey...

And despite all that ends up landing a job at CTU

You have to persevere, it does get better. I think towards the end it was more comical than anything else but still entertaining.
