Long story short, I've got a £20 free stake with William Hill.

I'm not a good gambler, in the way I just gamble a few pennies on ridiculous 'in play' oddds, in an attempt at glory, which rarely pays off.

Faced with this one bet of £20, I don't know what to do with it...i'd like returns of about £8000.

Any resulting successful tip will result in 50% to charity, or to contributor. Honest!

Rich

Something with odds of 400-1?

Those sort of returns I'd recommend a 7 horse accumulator

It's just blatant request for tips; accumulator (need nags' names!) seems best option, or any strong views on surprise footy form etc!

£8k slightly tongue in cheek btw, £2000 would do 🙂

follow @devilfish2011 on twitter.

you won't win £8,000 or even £2,000 but when he does tip a single horse he has a [s]pretty[/s] very good record.

Mrs Mw won a share of just over £4k on a stake of about £6. They named the first three horses past the post in the correct order.

it was the last race of the night and three of them gathered up whatever loose change they had for a stupid bet. It was completely pot luck too, horses picked 'cos they had good names rather than any indication of form. We don't expect this ever to happen again.

I used to work in a call centre for William Hill. We had internal staff competitions during things like Goodwood. Loads of people there were obsessed with betting, read the Racing Post constantly, and some of them were involved in referring bets for important or particularly well informed customers.

The competition over three days was won by an 18 year old female who knew absolutely nothing about horse racing and picked horses based on very little - lots of red faces amongst all the (male) betting nerds!

Nothing of exceptional value today, either wait or take a punt at doubling your money on Chasing Dreams - Catterick 14.10

Not sure you'll get evens with Billy Hill though

Thanks rb; just the kind of tip I was looking for...however from above posts I may as well ask missus to pick something.

This all reminds me of that parrot in the carry on, which started picking winners for sid james.

It's not like it used to be with horses that were going to 'try very hard' today - especially this side of the Irish sea anyway
