I need another sleeping bag for late spring/summer/early autumn use. I've got a lovely big 4 season jobbie but it's overkill and bulkier than needed most of the time. Only snag is I'm 'bigger boned' than average and since I stopped racing I've filled out a little. Not fat (I can see my knob!) but quite broad with swimmers shoulders and a 48" chest. Only 5'11" though. Sleeping bags are often really tight for me.
I'm thinking Alpkit money (£150 ish) but not sure what the fit of the new generation of Alpkit bags is like. Any others to consider, even a bit more pricey? Again, I don't need anything too warm - I've already got that covered.

I've got a Mountain Hardwear Lamina 45 Long, which is wider and longer than the regular one. I am considering selling it as I am old and skinny and get too cold!!
If interested let me know, otherwise the MH long bags are great and roomy (I also have a down one which is my best purchase ever).
Have you looked at the bigsleep things in argos?
£20, loads of space and warm as - more than enough for 2 seasons.
If you want to spend more money Vango do a "pod" (I think it's pod) version that gives you loads of room.
5'11" and 46" chest.
You can get little wedge shaped sleeping bag "extenders" that create a wider bag by zipping on to the bag. It'll give an extra 6" circumference at the head end.
More cash but PHD Designs have a choice of widths. About £300 for their +5C bag extra wide with half zip and around 600g weight.
They have sales a couple of times a year. Maybe worth signing on to their e-mail list.
Take a look at Snugpak bags. I find them a bit more generously sized than some others. They also offer an expander panel for some models.
