I need to assist changing the fuel filter on a 2.2 diesel engined Evoque at the weekend.

Does anyone know whether it will self prime after the filter is changed or whether we will need a priming pump?

Thanks.

No not self priming.

Need a priming bulb  and iirc it's 8mm Id pipe to push onto the filter outlet and pull fuel up from the tank to the filter to prime it .which as you look at the car is the right hand front most connection on filter.

Then once you get fuel out your priming  bulb remove it and reconnect the line to the fuel pump.

Then connect your bulb to the top left connection on the left hand side of the one way valve (you'll see an arrow pointing in direction of flow moulted into the top) repeat the process to prime the fuel rail

You'll notice a massive difference after if it's been on a town and county service plan cause they don't bother their arse changing them it seems. My folks one was still dated 2012. Car was hesitant and felt like it had a bogging down gear box when you planted the foot. Changed filter it was like a totally different car.

Out of curiousity I just checked the service intervals on the filter for 2.2 Evoque.

My folks was done 5 years and 49k miles.

should be changed every 3 years. If you fill the new filter with fuel before fitting you will be ok.start car hold revs at about 2500rpm for about 30 secs.switch off,Restart, will take a bit to fire up then let idle for 30 secs again.Repeat another time.should be ok.

The dealer service plans are minimalist.  I go to an independent now and he replaces fuel filter every year, also the pollen, i saw the 12 month old pollen filter and it was truly minging.

Dealer gave me a service spec for 48 months and inde did more work for less money.

Sorry i cannot comment on the priming issue, I don't get my hands dirty any more....

Thanks all.

The car is 2012 with 25k miles.  The filter was supposed to have been changed last year, so this will be interesting...

Appreciate it.
