Not been to a gym since Feb/Mat time but went and lost my kettle bell virginity in a class at the local council gym on Friday morning. Went really well, quite chuffed as a 60yr old showing them how an oldy mtber can give it some 💪
Managed, just, to get down the stairs this morning as inner thighs just 'said no', ouch! Forced myself to do a restricted upper body workout for 40 minutes at home with a few careful stretches and back strengthening exercises.
Lesson learnt, probably not 😳
Met up with a mate, riding cancelled due to forecast monsoon, demolished the Hassop Station cafe Big Breakfast then did 5 miles walking up and down the trail to the Monsall viaduct in the drizzle.
Sounds infinitely better than going to Bramall Lane in the pissing rain with some mild optimism that Wider world turn it around on his third coming (I didn't want him back btw) and witnessing the same old dross resulting in yet another defeat.
yesterday i worked out how to upload a gpx to my garmin (instinct solar) to try to follow the route - im not sure it would have been great if i didnt already know the area, but hey, D6 likely to be a ride but ive got grass/hedges to cut first.

Day six and I'm still not 100%. Probably should have rested but spent all day scrubbing garage walls, house roof, brush cutting etc. Then a short walk which got me up to 12,000 'steps' so that will do. Garmin thinks I went for a bike ride at some point...
Day 6 - 4hrs 10 mins out of the house, 2hrs 40 mins moving time on the emtb with a couple of pub stops.
If you haven't done your exercise outside today you've missed out - in Derbyshire at least, it's been fabulous
Moved a load of logs yesterday, couldn’t get out anywhere as No2 Skipperlet had rowing and it was pissing down all day. Did 90k on the bike today. Next week will be tricky as working away Tuesday to Friday…😟

I work away most weeks.
Either take the bike (not always an option), find a local gym, or failing all else - dumbbell curls/raises, sit ups/crunches, press ups etc, or find a calisthenics program on your phone. Done in your room

Missed the first two days because of an unfortunately shit team building event with work. But I played football Friday and Saturday. And I hiked to a big rock on Thursday.

Very easy 10k run today as I'm still recovering from my ultra two weeks ago. Probably wouldn't have bothered if it weren't for the challenge 🙂
Yesterday was almost a write off. Managed to get 20 minutes of hip openers and some one stability exercises in to make up my half hour. If it were nor for the challenge I would have done nothing, so that's a plus.
Today I happened upon a couple of mates while I was out at the local, and we ended up going on a magical mystery tour while trying to find a gap jump. Cue being lost in the woods, accidental trespass and a couple of bramble based fights. We did not find the jump, but it was ace.
Walk with the boys for an hour this afternoon and a bit of bag work and bodyweight doodahs this eve
Squeezed the bare minimum into a busy weekend . 30min run early yesterday (I really dislike morning effort) and after a 6 hour drive back home did some mobility and isometric exercise. I really wouldn't have done either were it not for this challenge

for Naughty Northumbrian which was 40k and 1200m of climbing Saturday practice & again today!
I've accidently fallen into the challenge this year after struggling to do it in previous years. I think for me I need to know when to take it a bit easier. Mon- Fri was either running or riding. Saturday was an easier day with a 1 hour walk before it pissed it down. Then went to a 50th Birthday Party on Saturday night where I drank way too much and didn't get to bed until around 1:30am.
But motivated myself to go for a run as the weather was so nice here in Derbyshire.
Worked allout well and felt fairly good to clear my head.
Hopefully out on the bike tomorrow after work, as the weather is looking nice and autumnal.
I also really struggled with the dark evenings, so think I may join a gym over the winter to try and keep me motivated, although I do prefer to be outside.

Having not run in over 2 months due to injury, yesterday was the North Tyneside 10k...I'll do it, says I...and now I can neither climb, nor descend stairs, or lower myself into a chair 😭 amazing just how quickly your muscles can forget!!
Saturday was an hour and half of BMX. First day of not running, but it's worth it to have the legs slightly less stiff.
Sunday, back to half hour morning run. Then later on got 40 mins in at the pump track with my boy - best but of the week.
Out for a run again on a minute.
5km walk and 30 min "collarbone rehab circuit" yesterday. And then lifting and moving loads of heavy patio stones which should count for something!
Working away today and tomorrow, so on the treadmill at 645 for 35 mins. Taking my rehab bands with me so will do shoulder and a bit of other stuff in hotel tomorrow morning.
Same as lots on here, easy to do stuff when you want to do it, hard to get motivated without the challenge when not.
Glad I've rejoined the Gym as I know that's at least two dark nights a week I've no excuses but to go do something.
5 days in and... FFS, got a plague. First time in a year.
End result of getting run down - close family funeral, high work stress (just short term / mad busy - I'm lucky to enjoy what I do and work with good people) and a couple of long haul flights last week = nowhere near enough sleep. Was a total zombie yesterday just walking the pupster.
Rest needed. I'm going to have to stop the clock for a few days, hopefully restart properly this next weekend, and go through to the new year !

Saturday was the Moray Gravel Raid, so 140km and 2350m of ascent and nearly 8 hours out on some awesome trails.
Yesterday was spent supporting the Mrs at the Gordonstoun triathlon so only had the time and energy for an extended dog walk yesterday evening.
Planning a couple of hours out on the road bike today though as I have a day off work 😎

6. Struggled to find time today. 20 mins intensive bodyweight and dumbbells routine plus 15 mins of yoga saw me through.
Day 7 - short intense workout before getting the train to the city and walking to the office and back.
Day 8 - dawn 'proper' mtb ride with some mates...struggling up and hammering down. Knackered now.
Despite having loads of time yesterday, all of a sudden I didn't.
Coupled with going to the pub and having a couple with Mrs Str, it got to 8pm and I forced myself to do 5 sets of 10 sit ups interspersed with 5 sets of 10 press ups.
Fell short time wise but just before bed, Google Fit congratulated me for '30 mins of fast paced exercise today'.
I had done a reasonable amount of walking.
I'll take that for the day and pick it up this week
Was supposed to be out for a 1:1 walk in the Pentlands with my boss at lunch today but something kicked off so that didn't happen. Used some "focus time" to do some Yoga/Pilates instead, but I'm jonesing to get outside in this perfect late summer weather.
Day 8 ticked off.
Extended lunch hour, and 24km on the HT.
Dog-walking busy-body told me I was an old man, to stop behaving like a kid, and to grow up, when he took an objection to me riding a trail (actually I stopped and let him and his 2 dogs meander around me) that technically, wasn't an official bicycling right of way! 🤣

Sunday I played table tennis. Which I didn't feel got my heart rate going enough so I did some leg burner body weight exercises a bit later. I liked the leg burners so much I did them Monday too. As Monday was a travel day I also did a lap of the terminal dragging my shit. Which got a sweat on enough for me to be a little embarrassed when I boarded.
I too almost forgot yesterday. Went out for a walk in the dark at half nine.
Walked a bit further today specifically to get a bacon sandwich. Theme developing.
Feeling like the seasonaly lurgy is having a go so decided to stay off the bike today, hopefully back on it tomorrow. New tyres fitted which are going to 'add to the workout'.
Another stunning autumn day and another mixed gravel/road ride, this time up to Grantown on the Speyside Way for a lasagna pie.

Was hoping to get to the gym but my plans had to change. Found an old beginners yoga routine by Kassandra that I hadn't done before - worked bits in different ways.
Last easy offroad club ride tomorrow, might move the gym to Thursday
