Hour at the gym on weights tonight for day 3 - only 2nd visit to the gym recently after a bit of a lay off. Building up slowly and surprised how much strength I've lost

Another hour in the home gym today and then a leisurely walk around a very Autumnal Loch Vaa this afternoon.

Gym swapped for another night ride. 20 degrees and dry trails. Felt like I made a good decision 🙂

Bit of a low-key start for me due to work commitments. First few days have been longer walks in the evening (5k plus) and pre-work yoga. Today I downloaded that home exercise app too (Christ! I forgot I had abs. Thanks @kimbers).

Last night caught up with a mate for a gravel pootle. 53 minutes riding time at a steady pace, sighted one Barn Owl, one Tawny Owl, numerous rabbits.

Followed by 90 minutes pub time, also at a steady pace, but we both needed the catch up.

Day 4 saw me wake up with eyes and nose streaming. Managed to work through until lunch then had a 20min sleep. Felt a bit better after that so did an hour walk with Mrs Reeksy up the adjacent 'mountain' via the Macadamia farm.

Count me in, I've been on operation be less of a greedy bastard for a couple of weeks so this should help with that. Sort of.

Tuesday I rode to work and back

Wednesday i'd seen this thread, so when the wife said she'd left her phone at the yard i pedalled over there and the long way home to retrieve it.

Thursday I was getting the hang of it and pedalled down the canal do Halfords to get a new chain for the lads BMX (seeing as i'd err broken the old one, who knew that you need a whole new toolkit and skillset for BMX bikes?) Then headed on over for a BMX coaching session at Bruntwood park.

In the office again today, so that's ticked off, but even pump track laps have been requested by one of the kids, so that'll be in the books as well!

Yesterday - couple of hours in the local woods slowly remembering how to ride a bike. I've not actually forgotten how to ride I was just riding like utter crap. Interestingly after I had stopped for a bit, done some trail maintenance and started riding again it all felt much better.

Today, in a 'possibly defeating the object of the exercise' way, I did a 50 minute walk with the sole intention of going to greggs.

Day 4 ticked off - Fridays are my NWD, so I invariably do a ride of at least 2 hours. 30km woodsy-texh-xc on the HT.

It was doing this challenge a couple of years ago that got me out of the habit of driving into town and walking or cycling instead. It's something I've retained the rest of the year too, so pretty much a benefit all round.

Was going to do a leg powered MTB ride for day 4, but was a bit shorter on time than I planned, so 12 mile (total) gravel ride out and back to Bakewell with a quick stop for a pint. 1hr 8 mins moving time

Drinking John Smith's now

Should be banged up just for that!*

Hour in gym, haven't done squats for ages, did a load of squats, now wishing I hadn't. Life has kind of bolloxed the cycle commutes this week. Will try again Monday. Not sure what to do over the weekend, need to put together a plan.

* hope it wasn't serious for your mate btw

Last couple of days haven’t gone quite as planned -  back window of the van was smashed by wind blown debris yesterday, en route to Braemar. That, in turn, led to a 6am start for an 8am appointment with Autoglass in Aberdeen this morning. End result was I forgot to record even a dog walk yesterday, and only managed a 4km wander with wife and dog today - not helped by both of us feeling like we have a cold coming on!

I got out for a couple of hours round the woods on my XC Hardtail.

Oh - I've decided that light, simple XC Hardtails are going to be the big thing in 2027. Marketed at all the gravel bikers and bikepackers and folk who just want something lighter and less complex than full suspension.

The next time I take a photo of these hills they may have snow on them.

Did half an hour in the gym but forgot to log it on the watch. But I did then later on do an hour and a bit on Zwift, so day 4 is intact.

Hopefully some outdoor rides over the weekend 🤞

100% agree. Built one of those and very much enjoying riding it locally and going to try and get a couple of two day bikepacking trips (Credit card B&B type) before weather goes to poo.

Had to drop the lad back at Portsmouth today. So 8am 35 min run and just shoehorned in another 25 mins collarbone rehab circuit before failing to pass the beer fridge 🙂

Ride tomorrow. Going to be damp.

I've decided that light, simple XC Hardtails

That front mech is an unnecessary complication and only adds weight 😀

Day four was another half hour jog. Have managed to do the bike commute every day this week so good habits forming.

Looking forward to today being a bit more fun, a couple of hours on the bmx lined up, then tomorrow hopefully mtb.

Amateur - I went out yesterday with a body battery of 5 😂 got back and it was still 5. Does it ever go to zero?

Small window today so 35 mins at the gym doing weights.

The good thing about this is the desire not to fail (for now), so I'm doing stuff when I'd normally sack it off

Oh yes 🙂 Day six on the Basque Pyrenees trip!

Lovely XC type ride with my fellow recovering collarbone'r. 3 hours, plenty.of distance, not too much climbing.

Had a pint, done for the day.

Zwift tomorrow I think. Run or ride.

Met up with a mate, riding cancelled due to forecast monsoon, demolished the Hassop Station cafe Big Breakfast then did 5 miles walking up and down the trail to the Monsall viaduct in the drizzle.

After destroying my quads with a few squats in the gym yesterday I thought to myself "what else can I do to make this pain worse?" And then is struck me, "I haven't done trail run for age!" So after an hour of that I could barely walk down the stairs after getting out of the shower. Would anyone like to bring me a cup of tea, please?
