Working away last week. Took resistance band and managed 2 early morning 30 minute sets. Run, Turbo, Weights rest of the week, not time to get back to gym classes, so tomorrow is going to be brutal I expect.

Sunday went for a ride, re-opened a forested trail with 2 hours of manual labour with zero tools, finished the ride. Pretty much finished me off as well!

(very) Easy Zwift later to tick me over 30 mins today.

Interest/involvement/engagement seems to have dropped off a bit of a cliff this year? I don't know if that's a reflection on the forum software or folk just a bit bored with the concept of the "challenge".

Not bored by the challenge, issues with forum software maybe more so, but my effort this year totally derailed by a combination of work and working away causing CBA-ness, & last fortnight's worth of cold/chest infection thing that floored the whole family. Worst we've had since covid first time round. Raging.

Still, at least it gives me even more time to drool over images of the Highlands 🤩

If my vague and probably unreliable memory of Dali paintings is correct, my snapped photo is missing a couple of elephants 🙂

I probably didn't post as much as last year, but I am very committed to the challenge. It's probably only 20% more exercise than I normally do but having been pretty much off exercise for 3+ months with the splatter bone, I am enjoying the discipline of making myself do something every day.

On that note, sacked off the Zwift last night, and did some proper weights for my shoulder(s). The now healed broken one is feeling pretty good if a bit crunchy. Swim and Gym class today. Might finally pluck up courage to as for a proper Gym weights circuit I can do on my own,

Went swimming. Seemed very hard. Subsequently feeling very tired / lethargic. Might have to pull the emergency hammy in the gym class warm up.... definitely having Xmas day off!

I'm still going, mostly bike rides with the odd short walk round the local woods. I see the challenge as motivation to get out the house for some fresh air on days when I probably wouldn't if I weren't doing the challenge, Monday this week for instance!

Strictly baggy swim shorts here. Any loss of "efficiency" is more than offset than retention of remaining dignity 🙂

Over to Tomatin for a bite of lunch today. It was a bit chilly in places, especially the fast descent down to the Findhorn bridge. Some icy patches to negotiate on the cycle path section too.

Still plodding away here, walking, cycling in it's various forms but mostly tai chi. Can't claim to have done the 100 days though as I  had a week off work  at the very start of the challenge which involved 4 days mostly sleeping and no exercise at all. Been on track since then though.

I messed up and missed 27 November due to piss poor planning. But otherwise i'm doing all sorts of bike rides, digging jumps and berms, weights, walks... need to try and run a bit too, but that's harder to get motivated for.

Another week of Swimming, riding, running and Gym Classes. Felt a bit ropy after my flu jab so decided that would be the ideal time to add a TRX class after the circuit one. It's only 30 mins I thought, how hard can it be? Very hard. I expect I shall be suffering tomorrow. Due to go for a lunchtime swim, the way my arms feel I might need the lifeguard to rescue me as I sink to the bottom....

I'm still going, no missed days. Most days have been out on the bike, either road or mtb and a few walks, all outdoors. The weather for the last couple of months hasn't made it easy!

WFH & having no kids helps in a big way.

Nearly faultered again this week, Christmas boozing and on the cusp of being ill. But...

Monday - 7.5k trail run

Tuesday - swim reps

Wednesday - 10k steps to, from and around work and pub

Thursday - yoga

Friday - "tri training" biked for ~ 35/40 mins then ran for 15. Running off the bike was torture for the first few mins.

Today - first park run since 2013, quite happy with a 21:16. 2nd in ages category and 3 weeks away from moving up to the next.

Interesting. I always hate the first 203km of ANY run and wonder why I'm doing it at all. If I've done a brick session when I've biked first then I get into my running stride much quicker than I usually do.

Friday was 60km on the trainer, checking out some routes in virtual Ireland. I think I need to visit in person!

I did a 10km trail run near Feshiebridge today, checking out the route for Monday night. There are some heilan coos, so I'll have to re-think. (I'm nornally OK with cattle but they can get stupid and obstructive when all they can see is your headtorch).

Love this idea 100 days feels long enough to build a habit without being overwhelming. Planning to keep it simple: daily movement, mix of riding, walking and some strength work so it’s realistic around work and weather. Consistency over hero sessions. Would be great to check in weekly and share what’s working (and what isn’t). Anyone else aiming for steady rather than savage?

Day 90... Running club's Christmas social trail run. Fortunately the torrential rain eased but the wind was still fierce at the trig point. received_1214581500580528.jpegreceived_2335536350300393.jpeg

Had my annual Asthma check last week. Interesting talking to the nurse, she said 30-60 minutes a day was the sweet spot for my age group (55-60). Mixing between cardio and strength sessions. Maximum benefit, minimum recovery.  Combined with a good diet and moderation for booze etc.

It was quite a long survey this year, along with measurements of lung capacity, lean mass, fat, etc from their new posh machines. I was happily in the green "for my age". So this 100 days must help. Kept it going until end Jan last year then fell off the wagon a bit (then fell off my bike!). Need to "be more Colin" for 2026 😉
