DON't forget the 3.12 is 95% of your best 20 mins in that event. Not your best 100%..

I’m right on the upper FTP limit for the category

For what it's worth, the top 5 in my cat c were all bang on 3.4, 3.41 and above got filtered out.

Yeah, I know - I haven’t done an ftp test for quite a while - just can’t bring myself to go through it! 95% of 20min was about 3.4 w/kg last time I did. Just now 3.2 might be about right. I think I’ll stick with cat c for now and see what ZP says after another couple of races.

If you just want the shortest route up the Alp then its Road to Sky.

Isn't it just the Jungle and turn right manually?

Road to the Sky is the easiest. Starts at the Jungle pens and no manual turns required.

#Oblongbob it's not enough to be on the high end of the category you need good 1 minute and 5 minute power and repeatability to get in and stay with the front group.
This might change soon with the new anti sandbag rules which will hopefully mean those at the top end of C rankings will be in B where they should be.
Also Zwift racing is best in this thread https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/zwift-my-journey-my-weight-and-my-fitness/page/334/

Inneos are doing some group rides before that event Rob linked to. I've entered the C one that starts just after 3pm.
The guest rider is being left as a surprise until you start.

Thanks for the invite for tomorrow Weeksy. I've declined though as the gardening is turning out to be a start one job find two more that need doing first type thing so couple of hours out of the middle of the day will be a non starter.

Enjoy!

So not really related to our meet-ups but is anyone watching the Ineos lot race the Fire&Ice route some of us have done over the last few days? Should be pretty good, all the riders split into teams of 6 led by a GC rider.

I never thought I'd see the day when I sit to watch virtual bike racing but we are where we are!

Slow start so far though...

Having to pull out of tomorrow's ride, DIY list has ramped up after I was hammering and a great big lump of plaster fell off the wall. Turns out the whole wall is blown and I'm now having to hack it off, reboard and plaster.

Needs doing and I can't justify a couple of hours out mid day for bike fun. I might try get an early one in if I get chance.
Have a good one and I'll join next time.

I'm tempted today to start the ride and then go out on the G-160.

I think i'm over-Zwifted at the moment.

@weeksy - anyway you can hand the ride leader role to someone else?
It does seem to be a burden that you organise the meet ups and have to ride everyone!

If there's away I can help let me know

thanks for organising robbo.

I really haven't got a clue what I am doing I didn't see any STW riders just pedaled for an hour and then gave up. Most other riders I spotted were going the other way - are they in different races? Is there any idiots guide as to work out the positions and how to work the map ? The other day the map was on my phone through the Companion app but today I could find it?

If you accept an invite for a meet-up you then should get a ‘join ride’ prompt on screen 5 mins before ride. You then get placed at start of group ride on turbo trainer. Once you start a group ride the other members of the ride will be highlighted in green and you can text other members of the ride.
The map should open on the companion app to show you other members of the group while you ride. You can text or give ride ons from the app.

I'm not in this week as trying to recover as committed a few people to the WTRL TTT on Thursday and don't want to be the weak link after a ridiculous weekend of Zwift riding.

At I can't make tonight's main event I've created a leisurely 35km ride on RGT if anyone else fancies a spin at 1700hrs.

4 laps of the rolling Pienza circuit, I'm planning on going very steady but you feel free to do you if you fancy pushing the pace.

So my experiment with RGT is over, did my leisurely ride round Pieza and it's just a bit weird.

Technically it's better than zwift, the physics are better, the graphics are better, the group ride and race functions are much slicker and the user interface is much better but it just doesn't seem to gel.

The graphics are more realistic - yay! But still not realistic enough to be immersive whereas Zwift's cartoony graphics seem more real by not trying to be real if that makes sense?

There's the lack of other riders which is a bit of a chicken and egg scenario so I can't say that's too much of an issue.

Route options are limited despite the magic roads function which needs much better explanation.

What is obvious though is how dull the terrain is. Again, by going for realism in terms of landscape etc there's nothing really that interesting to look at whereas on zwift there's loads going on even if you don't consciously notice it.

I think when they first started they paid too much attention to people who said they wanted zwift but more realistic and with real climbs and not enough attention was given to understanding why zwift is so popular.

It's a shame because they could be a genuine alternative but I just can't see it happening without some serious changes.

Minecraft is like that, much remarked upon - it can look beautiful and feel immersive at times despite the graphics being primitive. Something to do with forcing your brain to fill in the gaps creating a different (and better) visual experience.

Anyone else set up for steering and able to use the Repack Ridge route - had my first go today and it's quite good fun, even if a bit short. Having to concentrate on steering does feel a bit weird after all this time just turning the pedals, but if a few people have the option to ride this route, we could have a little meetup on it?

1st one I've made, that was fun but painful. It's reset my FTP for me after that last lap despite doing a ramp test yesterday morning.

I've used the steering on repack ridge, found I had to turn the sensitivity right down to work well but once I did that it was a bit of a giggle. Would be nice to be able to spawn nearer to it.
