Had a good read up on this and general consensus seems to be that it won't work.
So ignored all that and tried it anyway, I've found I can get all gears except the biggest sprocket when on biggest ring. I can see that this is outside of the range of the short cage.
My question is would I get that last sprocket if I ran a smaller front ring?

Yes...but may not be desired for other reasons...

Sorted! Backed off the limit screw a bit - didn't think it would be that simple
