I am going to swop my sworks stumpjumper FSR frame for a hardtail. Presently looking at Cove handjob, cotic soul, santa cruz chameleon, pace RC305. My fork is a fox Talas RLC 2006. I need just a good allround trail bike as i ride less of serious stuff that i use to. My budget is £600 and below. What about On one. They seem very cheap and popular.
On One make good frames, and the 456 would be ideal ideal with a Talas
Gotta recommend a Stiffee. I've got the same forks on mine, and it's lots of fun.

I've got an One One Summer Season and they are blinding value for money but if I had £600 for a new frame, I'd check the second-hand ads and look for a nice ti jobbie. You will find Cove Hummers, Litespeed Pisgah etc if you look hard and they are better than any of the frames you mentioned IMHO. I've had a Merlin Oreas and Pace RC303 and would plumb for the Merlin any day.

It pushes the upper end of your budget, but the Evil Sovereign is a really mind blowingly good bike. I've had an On One in the past but this bike is a whole other league. It makes you feel invincible, it's massively versatile, it looks incredible and the quality is second to none. very capable uphills but it does shine when you point it down.
Not mine in the photo, I don't have any photos of mine without me on it, but I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and love it to bits.

I swapped all the bits off of my 2004 Enduro onto a 456 two and a half years ago and have never wanted the spesh back at all. Love it to bits.
Enough. Get one of these. The Sovereign is nice though.

Try and get a go on a Soul and a Chameleon, both a bit special... Though expensive of course. There are still some 456s for £125, that's just silly money, I keep saying the same thing but at this price, you can't go wrong, the resale value is still around £100 on Ebay.
I have just sold my trance and gone back to a hard tail ( crashed and fell off too much) with all the kit off the Trance so there is no componant issue
It handles a lot better, it climbs alot better, it goes down hill faster and the technical downhills it feels alot safer.
So all the kit is the same bar the seatpost and front mech, so the frameset was the issue.
And the frameset I chose and I am chufffed to hell with is a 456 built up just under 26 lbs and it is fanfriggintastic and £125.01 😆
