It never ceases to amaze me how much some folk think 2nd hand kit is worth.

What amazes me more though is that idiots pay it. Witness the second hand ski crampons I bid on which went for £5 over the new price plus p&p.

Bizarre

I've sold quite a few used items on Ebay for more than they cost new, it's so strange. People just get caught up in the bidding I guess (I started them all with sensible prices, honestly!)

it's worth every penny. it doesn't have a chain...therefore you don't need to pedal...therefore IT'S A MAGIC BIKE! 🙂

A mate used to work in a motorbike shop which had a new and 2nd hand dept. He once sold a yr old bike for more than the punter could have bought it new across the road in the new dept. He claims there had been a new price cut he didn't know about but what was the buyer thinking of! He also told me about punters who were not interested in the price of the bike-all they wanted to know was how much would it cost per week on a loan even though they would pay nearly half the loan in interest

Looking on the Orange site, the Tech M4 brake upgrade for a Five Pro is +£40, on a Five AM its +£190! How do they work that out, talk about bike-ist.

A 5 AM comes with Elixir's hence the higher upgrade over a Pro which has X2's.

Except he does near the bottom.

Except the picture clearly shows a CCDB.

He's obviously cut and paste a spec from some website then added a bit of info at the bottom. Hence the Plasma Blue / Cherry Black colour confusuion.

I always price kit fairly, and err on the cheap side - if ive decided to get shut I want it gone yesterday. However, folk like this bloke can ask what they want for stuff - they just wont get it from me. Live and let live & Caveat Emptor spring to mind.

Disc Brakes - Hope Tech M4, Shimano SLX R Fire + £190
Hope Stainless BB + £60

why do we care? if he wants to put it up at that price, so be it. if some one is stupid enough to actually pay that then so be it.

remember, something is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it!

In that case, 99% of all the comments on this forum are pointless.

If he paid the £3800 RRP then he is mental!! My Five Pro was more than that once spec'ed up and I got well over 10% off without any haggling.

There's an online retailer currently offering an automatic 10% off with a voucher - anyone know of any better offer at the moment for 2012 Fives (frame only with upgrades and poss. forks)? Or which retailers are particularly open to a bit of friendly haggling?

He needs to knock a grand off that. Its a year old and regardless of whether its only been ridden to the shops or whatever its lost a year of warranty. It needs to be significantly cheaper than you could buy in the shops or why would anyone risk it. After all its only going to break...

1) He does say he`d be interested in offers around the stated price
2) How long is the wait for Orange Fives currently?
3) Its for sale, you have the option to buy it or get something else and retain a bit of originality....
