The airline run in Les Gets.
And how I would ride it.
(In honesty I wish I was that good).
Hah 2nd one looks like me, so off to see the Jedi then?
Obviously well above my grade but..
fair dos he launched it at 2:10, looks like he hooked up pretty bad on landing tho. Weird he'll launch off the big drops but chicken the what looks like easier root jumps (2:40).
So big question is how did the first guy get a clean run in when by the looks of it there's normally loads of people stood around on the trail checking out the lines (while stood on the lines and/or leaving their bikes across the trail) or sliding down on their arses?
Big question IMHO is how many times did the first rider go down there like the second one before he was able to hit it like that?!?!
Funk me, I think he actually headbutted the bars @ 2.07 ๐ฏ
The first one looked fine, the second one looked shady from the word go. He probably needed to practice on some smaller stuff & build up to it.
For his neck's sake alone!
Looks terrifying! Funny how the second has all the gear, fair play though he managed a lot more than I would!
When I was younger I used to agonise over stuff like that, I told myself unless I could ride everything I wasn't going to be "good" - but frankly now I see stuff like that and I know even though I've theoretically got the skills to do it, I wouldn't enjoy it and it's 99% likely I'd panic brake or do something equally stupid and hurt myself.
Took a look at it last year.
Nope...
AS long as number 2 had fun (that's what I keep telling myself).
No.2 is my hero, thought he was going to bottle the jump at 2.10 no way would I do that ever !! No.1 so what, loads of pro types out there doing the seemingly impossible without breaking a sweat.
I often think of myself as being able to ride stuff like that, but there's NO WAY I'd be able to ride it 'blind', first time, in one run.
You really do need to 'know the trail' to ride it like that - to know how fast to hit the jumps, what's coming up etc etc.
Like has been said, the first video probably sessioned several sections before filming that!
Still good riding though.
DrP
Nope nope nope nope (I think you get the idea!)
Even if I had the skill the do that I'm not sure I'd actually want to do it - but fair play to him at 2.05, I'd have definitely bottled it!
Trop dur pour moi
I think Gnarly Gnarly cut gate guy needs to do some commentary!
I didn't mean for a second to imply any disrespect to No2. I really felt for him. God knows I've been there.
I wouldn't even have made it off the starting ramp woodwork without walking! ๐
When I said I had been there, I meant I had walked round far easier stuff than that.
Neither of those videos do the severity of that track justice. A lot of people would struggle to ride it cleanly even missing all the obstacles. It is steep in parts and greasy when damp.
First guy has mad skills.
It was closed when we where over last year due to the weather which was unfortunate as I was going to do it. Honestly I was
Jeeeeez, I'm glad I sold my AM bike and am back to being an XC mincer ๐
Respect to both from me... ๐
I'd have balked at the first gap and gone and ridden something else!
Guy in video No2 is my hero, clearly not possessing mad skills but he has the balls to give it a go anyway.
Guy #2 has more mad skilz than me ๐
We had a look at it last year. (the black next to it is fab and way less scary). The first drop looked a bit lively to be honest, and after than some of the non negotiable hip jumps had 'that;s me splattered on a tree' written all over them. No Way I was even going to try that. We were told it had been closed for a bit as the bloke who built it monged himself some serious hospital time.

You can't see the ground there but it's a long way down! I didn't get pic of the bloke who cased it. No idea how he didn't end up upside down in a tree!
