Coming from the mountainous region of Northants, didn't know if anyone locally had a Yeti SB95 I could throw my leg over for sizing purposes, first step into the big wheel arena and can't see any demo bikes around locally!?

I think you'll find a demo hard to find. It's a bike 'only just' in the Yeti lineup with this probably being the last year and more than likely no longer in production. I'm also hoping they replace the SB95 with a Switch Infinity version.

I looked to source an SB95C demo last spring to replace my ASR5C and I went to two shops and contacted Silverfish. It didn't happen for various reasons.

From what I remember Silverfish run a demo fleet which do various events around the country. At a push they might send one of these bikes to a store but due to costs, logistics, etc. then I'm not sure this happens that often and shops often have their own demo bikes.

You're best bet is to get in touch with Silverfish and/or your nearest Yeti dealer. I might also point out that Yeti's own size recommendations are often spot on. Also see if anyone responds to this thread with an SB95 that lives close to you to throw a leg over.

Hope this helps.

Nowhere near you BUT I demoed mine from my local dealer. They can usually get the demo model sent from Silverfish.

I'm 6'3" and ride a Large with 720mm bars and 65mm stem and a Reverb. 175mm cranks. 150mm Pikes.
I could ride an XL as there is almost the same standover, just longer top tube. If and when I get my next Yeti, it'll be an XL and I'll run a 40mm stem.

I was thinking of going carbon but I worry about stone strike etc. My SB95 is looking very scuffed so may just get it resprayed. I have no complaints about it's ride quality. The bearings have held up perfectly (one main pivot bearing/bushing replacement and 3 sets of the small swingarm bearing from inside the blue switch device). My Strava summary for 2014 was 2000km and 47000 metres of ascent. I got the bike in June 2013 so there's another summer of riding to add to that. Get 150mm Pikes and choose tyres wisely. Get one!

Leisure Lakes at Bury have a 2nd hand SB95 in the showroom. Have a drive out and have a go.

Without knowing what size you are after it's hard to be too specific.

I'm pondering one of these too, having realised I just can't afford the new yetis. A mint second hand carbon sb95 went on ebay the other day for £1050 but at over 6'4" I think I need an XL. They are getting hard to come by now though. I did ride an XL very briefly up a street and it felt immense, but it belonged to someone 6'7" or so.

I'm on the cusp of L/XL at 6'3" so yes, XL for anyone taller than me with correspondingly chimp-like arms!

I had a demo ride when the yeti van was up at Cathkin Braes last year. SB95c in large, im 6ft and it was perfect size. Great ride as well, though i didn't have the £6k required to purchase one 🙁

Awesome bike.

I rode one 18 months ago on a demo day at Llandegla and it blew me away and changed my perception of 29ers.

If you manage to get a demo and its the right bike for you, I did see a little while ago that Jenson USA had them in stock (frames at least) for a decent price. Don't know about import duty mind.

Cheers for all the input guys, thanks to ScottChegg and his 'heads up', I managed to get the one from Bury shipped to my local branch and bought that one! Now have to get out and fully use it! 🙂
