Bit annoying really, 'cos it means they can charge you XTR prices, i.e. £25 for a single pair of blinking pads. Come on Shimano, nobody really needs a titanium back plate...

No XTR brake pads have a titanium back plate.

Will SLX M666 pads fit XTR M985?

Which is why there are lower spec cheaper XT and SLX pads on the way.

Deore and XT pads will also fit the 2012 Shimano disc brakes. My Superstar sintered ones are holding up well to the worst the Lakes and Dales can through at them.
