Hi, does anyone know if xtr m975 chain rings are standard or specific i.e. what can I buy to replace them?
cheers
Matt
They are 104mm BCD like most Shimano rings. However the interface between ring and crank arm may differ between rings from other groupsets.
Middleburn do a set that fit.
Double post, sorry
ok thanks
You need 2mm spacers on the inner ring, and most aftermarket rings won't be an aesthetic match, but any 64/104 BCD rings will fit.
FWIW the middleburn XTR specific ones are absolutely atrocious! Worst shifting I have ever experienced! Standard XTR rings all the way!
Mine both have a deore middle/outer ring and an SLX inner ring- the SLX needs spacers, the deore would look ugly if it wasn't hidden behind a bashring. Perfect.
(I won't have middleburn rings on a bike again, after about 5 rides the last one was like a chainsuck grenade thrown into an otherwise tidy drivetrain)
