May be Stupid question, but do i need to ditch my shimano xt front triple shifter or will it work with a middleburn double and what mech would work best?

I use an XT triple shifter with a Middleburn Duo set up - I have set the H limit screw to stop it shifting into what would be the big ring on a triple. I'm using Gripshift but it would work just as well with Rapidfire.
