[Closed] XC routes in or near Assynt?
I'm in Lochinver for a few days and the weather is looking good. I've got a hardtail embt. The trail maps are showing the nearest routes are Torridon, which is over 2 hours away.No singletrack nearby.
But I'm wondering if there is any decent XC routes or scenic fireroad nearby so I can avoid the car? Or is travel required.
The roads are busy for Easter so something avoiding tarmac might be good.
There's a couple of tracks between Kylesku and Achfary. Or there's a loop from Achfary to Gobernuisgach Lodge and back via the Bealach Horn and Lone. Still gonna be a drive to get there.
I did have a look around when I was in the area but turned up almost nothing. If you have a road or xc bike the riding is amazing and incredibly tough!
Fair enough, it's what I suspected.
Any thoughts on best rides within 1 hr drive?
There is a trail from Baddidarach (just west of Lochinver) over to Ardroe. It's not very long and wouldn't be great in the wet, but we walked it a couple of years ago and there was a guy on a trials bike having a bit of fun on it.
