Hello, I’m staying near troutbeck soon. Is there any riding from the door? If not, Are the big peaks accessible by fire road or walking path?
Which troutbeck? There’s more than one.
I didn’t know that thanks. It’s the troutbeck inn, northern one on the A66
You can do a loop anti-clockwise through Mungrisdale, round towards Calebreck, west from there and then take the BW towards Skiddaw House. Can then come back via Threlkeld or go north east down to Mosedale. All very rideable from memory.
I was staying in Limefitt lodges at Troutbeck last week. Out the back of that you can head up the Garburn Pass, up to GatesGarth and round the Nan Bield Pass. All in that's around 20 miles and a fairly big days riding.
That's the other Troutbeck.
And yes, all the peaks are accessible by walking path. It's the Lake District, not the Himalaya!
I guess I mean, It’s probably going to be busy so the popular walking routes are probably out

Not helpful. They are indeed accessible, but:
Many suck up and down with a bike and hence make shit cycle routes.
On certain paths you'll piss off ramblers.
Having said which, you're nearish to 3 potential classic peaks depending on what you're after.
Blencathra west to east is great and generally not desperate ( still 60% push up though)
Dodds and Helvellyn ridge ONLY if its been utterly bone dry for weeks and you love uphills. Huge choice of amazing descents
Skiddaw Bridleway up then Ullock Pike down. Only if you like full on techie gnarr.
High Street is far far easier. But do not on any account do it unless it's frozen solid or dry as a bone ( 3 + weeks no rain type of dryness)
I'm focusing on peaks here as you mentioned them. But probably none of them apart from High Street would figure 8n most bikers' definition of XC
Reread your post for the fourth time, and decided my post above has misinterpreted your requirements. If indeed you are after a nearly all rideable uphill, followed by the pleasant, easyish down hill then High Street.
sounds great, thanks a lot. 🙂
