I'm thinking of a ForeKaster EXO TR especially as it needs to cover for the Pivot 24/12 which has a few small rocks, but is there anything else I should consider?
It's be for the front end, paired with a Vittoria Gato2 if that makes any odds.
Second post to make the thread come alive...
Saw the thread title and thought 'Forekaster' before i'd clicked through.
Very good, particularly as a front.
How wet are you talking as I found the barzo (that I know you use / used) coped with everything I could throw at it, bar a total sticky mud'fest, which in any case you're screwed over 12/24 hrs and might as well fit 38mm 'cross tyres just so the wheels will turn.
BTW it ain't gonna rain at 24:12, promise!
I tried forecastors last winter and tbh wasn't impressed, as steve says stick to your barzo's, the forecasters are no better

Thats we we all say every year....
I'm with you on the Barzo. Mine is down to almost "no sipes left", which is fine while its dry but I'm thinking of having a tyre on my winter wheels for the inevitable deluge to take over. It is a National after all.
I could just but a new Barzo G2 (mine are G+) but I don't really want to throw away a half worn tyre for one race.
New barzo on the front would be ideal.

Pah, wheres the commitment, it is a National afterall 😉
Its also much better to throw away a half worn tyre (not that you'll do that) than land on your face and not finish the race.
I've got a shed full of tyres that get swapped regularly depending on conditions.

You have a point, I can always revert to the older ones for the rest of the Autumn...
Yeah do it. Supplies have been sporadic but I think Vittoria stockists have had their deliveries now so now is good.
Fwiw I ride both. A 2.25 barzo and a 2.35 forekaster. The forekaster feels more like a light trail tyre and isn't as fast as a barzo. But it isn't much grippier either. It does clear mud well though. For 24:12 I would run a barzo as it isn't that claggy. More wet mud that cuts through.
All I know is I'm taking my bike with a pair of MSC dragsters fitted and will be taking a pair of MSC RockRollers in case it gets a bit dirty, which of course it won't as it will be gloriously sunny, 20degC and bone dry for the week leading up to it.
New tyres bought - for anyone interested a TNT 2.25 G2.0 Barzo is £36 at Wiggle currently.
What category are you racing Steve?
Slightly old biffers 12hr solo, absolutely not in podium bothering shape so just going for the day out and a BBQ & beers while watching our team of 4 whippets smash out the 12hr quads.

We're in competition then, and having spent since last November training for this I'd better make sure I finish in front of you!

Well, we're in the same competition 😀
You probably will 😉
