It's the weekend ride picture thread again.

You know the score.

Ride your bicycle.

Take some pictures.

Post them up with a few words.

Last day showing some mates from the midlands around the valley.

Be glad to get back out on a human only powered bike now they've gone.😉

The trails are so badly in need of so rain now.

Everything is falling apart and a dusty, rubbley mess.

A few overnight showers would be great.

Be careful what you wish for ... although I agree, a modest amount of rain, ideally falling from 10pm - 2am, for a few nights, would be just the ticket.

Rode with someone new today; we've followed each other on Instagram for a while due to both having owned a Swarf Contour (he still does, I wish I'd kept mine - as well as the Aeris AM) and living in Leeds, so met up for a few laps at Stainburn. Never known it so dry. Great really, but some of the steeper bits suffer from a lack of grip due to too much dust!

520EE9DC-271B-44B8-BFEC-ADE52F754936.jpeg Early morning (well early for me, 7am) dash round two of the nearest and best trails from my doorstep, 40 minutes only but an absolute blast. I do love where I live at times like this.

Took the day off work at short notice so headed for the hills. Decided to do Devil's Elbow which I've not done for years, lovely little pocket of fun and trees, really need to make sure I incorporate it more often.

Sadly saw the result of a moorland fire up at Froggatt edge as well :-(. Fair play to the people that put it out, must have been a hell of a job!

Actually this was last night, but close enough… trip to Llandegla and lots of playing on Natural Selection which was hilariously lethal from a grip perspective but laugh out loud fun 🙂 I don’t think I’ve seen it as dry but the rain is coming down now and looks like it will catch up a bit this week…

Definitely colder and windier tonight

No pictures but we were at the Golfie tonight and finished just as the first spots of rain started.  Definitely need the rain, it was so loose and blown out, you need mud tyres for the dust.

We drove back through France last night and had a 2 hour window to unload/load. Get some bread and milk before we set off for the Peak for the weekend

Bikes dropped in to 18 Bikes for some TLC. Tidied the van a bit before we went to the Heaven 17 gig in the Peak Cavern

Had some amazing food in Italy and France but it's hard to beat fish and chip Friday

If Bikes are ready we will ride. If not then we will hike a bit over the weekend

Climbed into bed and its just started raining

No rain here please!

Did an off piste loop here this morning.

I've done it before but it seemed incredibly hard going IMG_0269.jpeg today.

A gentle tootle around some local trails to verify that a persistent creak had been banished by much needed maintenance. Found a four cheese danish in a local bakery. The pastry was a bit over cooked imo but tasty nonetheless. PXL_20250523_105851672.jpg

Arrived home yesterday late afternoon after an exhausting week away with work. Logic said to simply crash and chill, but the rain had not really yet arrived. So a quick scoot around the local trails was in order. It’s properly raining now today, so im elated that I was able to squeeze in one last dusty ride.

Spent the morning doing housework, looking out the window at the rain thinking about riding my bike.

It got to 2pm and i couldn't not go for a ride, despite the rain. Glad I did, it's been a mad few weeks, and my brain definitely feels better for it! There were puddles, random lost boxers and I even managed to track down the owner of a lost dog lead I found. All in all, a standard ride!

@Tom83

It's a great feeling when you manage to reunite the owner with something they've lost isn't it.

Good work and the UK needs more of that kind of behaviour.

Well we got some rain in Northants! Actually quite nice after all the hot weather but I'd like it to stop now. We just went on a little local woods singletrack explore. Need to get one of those springy tow ropes for him to make the uphills a bit easier

Windy one today so stayed mostly in the trees, last few days of patchy rain has actually improved the trails tbh and got rid of that bloody dust!

We had some rain but more sunshine than expected. Managed a wee play on the Devil's Staircase (WHW above Glencoe) on Friday before the rain arrived and then a couple of laps at Pitfichie (Aberdeenshire) downhill on Sunday.

Brilliant weekend 🙂

Little smattering of recent showers has created hero dirt all over the local, so a fun Sunday bimble today. Shame that Tuesday is likely to turn it all back to villain clay.

Weekend almost over before I had a chance to ride. Forecast was wet/dry/wet/dry/repeat with an undertone of WINDY AF and so it proved to be - stayed low off the hills in the woods instead and managed to shelter from the brief but heavy showers. Rain much needed: trails were pure hero dirt 😀

Spent the last couple of days resting drinking beer and walking.

Back out this morning for a spin round on the now dust free trails.

Bike still didn't need washing, just a wee brush off so win, win. IMG_20250526_113806564.jpg

Well, we've had a bit of rain now in Yorkshire. Not had much fundamental impact on the trails, but certainly the rooty sections were a bit of a greasy surprise on my fast-ish XC tyres this morning.

The bridge at the bottom of the first descent from my house on my regular route out of NW Leeds is closed off, I'll need to head out a different way for a while ...

PXL_20250526_083409586.jpg

46 km with a bit of everything ... Techy woodsy singletrack, open grassland & moorland, and some enduro lines. All great stuff.

An overnighter from Nant y Arian to Machynlleth and back. In the dry it's always fantastic. In the wet it can be purgatory...

We got the former on the first day, the latter on the next. With added headwind. Yippee 😁
