Thought it was high time I did my own pedalling today 👍
Took today off to enjoy the dry weather. Took my e-bike to one of Northern Ireland’s best biking spots - Tollymore forecast park.
I originally bought an e-bike to try to burn less calories (since I’m unusual in that I’m struggling to keep weight on). But so far, I’m failing. All I’m doing is riding further and further. The upside is obviously the amount of grins and the mahoosive quantity of single track I’ve been enjoying.
After riding above Asti yesterday we continued South through Italy to Massa. Managed to liaise with a local rider last night and although he couldn't show us around he did send us a Trailforks map of his favorite trails. A quick lunch and we were out climbing in the hills above the town. 11 miles later and we dropped into the first trail. Dry, fast, steep, rooty and rocky what more could we ask for. Climbed back up and dropped into the second. It was even better than the first. Followed the same pattern all afternoon till we ran out of steam in the heat. 25 miles and we're back at the van covered in dust. 😎🍺
I rode from my Daughters flat in Alva to my home in Aviemore. 200km
I got distracted following cycle path options in Perth but detoured over the new Destiny Bridge just for a gander.
Harebell out in Dunkeld. Not seen any up our way.
Always glad to get back to the Highlands.
Mrs A wanted to see what the fuss was about on Y Wal now it's up and running again. The final zig zag descent is very awsumz but the beech woods are just sublime.
No such luck here. Everything is still wet.
Worst week of exercise on my Garmin's record due to a virus. Just managed a flat 20km Friday afternoon gravel roll among the Roos.
Split day spin this morning, made going to work even worse than usual...
Bone dry, dark and 2 degrees in the hills above Adelaide. Still waiting for proper rain.
What a great set of photos. Looking great everyone.
70km solo epic for me yesterday. Ringinglow to Jacobs ladder and back via redmires, stanage, win hill, jaggers, chapel gate, roych, south head etc. and two stops at the penny pot cafe. Lovely day for it but acquired some comedy tan lines. Extremely loose and dusty so the climbs were tricky. Managed to avoid cramping by taking it steady and plenty of rests.
Another 26 miles above Massa today. Still had to do the first long climb to get to the top. Then a push/carry to get to the Top of the World trail.
Came down and back into the woods for some fun. Finished up at a bar with a couple of Aperol Spritz and a bike back along the coast to the van
Loads to explore but once again a few pointers from the locals is priceless
I did a Glorious Gravel sportive type thing in N Wales. Bone dry, the bike was covered in white dust!
Edit - why isn't the pic showing?! 🤬
Some from the Bole Hills opening jam with appearance from Ratboy
Another blue sky day in the Pentlands, the gorse is amazing just now, as long as you don't get too close. About 30km and 1200m of climbing.
Earning beer tokens on the way to meet friends.
Trail with a smattering of enduro lines and a couple of jumps on the way.
Started off cloudy and cool, I was slightly worried I had underestimated how cool it would get, but ended up perfect. Not as hot (which is good for me!) but loads of sun and looking beautiful everywhere.
Back from the Marches and Castles tour. Will put up a separate thread in case anyone is thinking of doing it, so it's easy to search for, with lots more info. Had a great time tho with the odd hour of mild misery 😉 This from our last day on our last climb out of Ludlow.
Had an amazing day racing enduro (open tracks as many laps as you like) with Reeksy1. He beat me! We both did pretty well considering our current fitness and health.
We don't really know the place we were racing but the rain made it grip like sandpaper. Tracks were easy but very fast and really good fun.
Race plates (with integrated timing chips) were fitted with string instead of cable ties. Great idea.
Should get some decent photos in the next day or two.
