No sign of the sun here in Yorkshire. I think we're due a visit tomorrow. Rain & sleet all day here, so domestic jobs and BB7 stripdown and drivetrain refresh on the SS gravel bike for me

Yep, drizzle all day today here too. I had half considered getting out for an early spin but it was rotten so I decided against it.

Hopefully out with the six-year-old tomorrow afternoon, might manage a spin myself in the morning. We'll see...

Is the title of this week's thread some kind of mean joke!?

Absolutely miserable here still!

We've just had the longest period without sun in Aberdeen since records began, so more a celebration. It's forecast to be miserable again from Sunday though.

It's so rank in Sheffield that I'm sitting in the garage trying to get vitamin D from my LED panels.

I do have an exciting new handlebar to try.

Yeah was grim all day in Leeds again until about 4pm. Brightened up slightly so went out on a walk. Just about saw some blue sky. Everything is as wet as I've ever known it.

Got other stuff going on this weekend so probably no riding. Or if I do manage to get out it'll most likely be on the road.

Actually too wet to ride today… for the first time in forever. Went for a nice walk instead, but membership loses so no photo posting for me.

Literal dawn raid for me this morning - took the bike off the rack just before sunrise. Lovely sticky chalky mud in the woods, perfectly frosted in the open.

Cut it shorter than planned due to brake problems (lots of noise but not much stopping, I'm guessing glazed pads) so I'll sort that this afty.

Local spin on t'ardtail. Blinking freezing if I'm honest. Nice mind, apart from the inevitable mud slog.

Lovely sunny morning in Dorset, but bloody cold, frosty toes! The pics were taken at the Moreton Ford bridge crossing, couldn't cross to the north side due to the deep water and a tree fallen completely across the trail.

Out on the ice again, tentatively to start with but built up my confidence carefully. Lovely day for a change! IMG_20260214_133607311_HDR.jpg

Kids wanted to take their scooters to the skatepark today, obviously I had to have a go as well 🙂 actually pretty fun, kinda made me want to get one for myself, though a BMX or DJ would be even better for me. Nice to get out in the sun today though after all the rain we've been having.

Beautiful day in Tollymore. But it’s ok….normal service (lashing rain) is forecast to resume by the end of the afternoon.

Second ride of the day, spin out round the local country park with MiniMonkey v1.0. First time offroad on her new bike and she did super well.

Staying in Gargrave IMG_7687.jpegIMG_7693.jpegIMG_7696.jpegIMG_7702.jpegIMG_7708.jpeg . Lovely morning ride. Set off to late to completely avoid the mud. But still fab. Got shown a cheeky downhill by a couple of local lads on ebikes

Perfect conditions at my other local today. It's only a small forest on the edge of the city, but one of those places where the more you look the more you find.

After a good 5 weeks of not drinking, but not really capitalising by getting fit at the same time, it's been easy to slip back into it. Hanging this morning, wasted the sunny day when I'd planned to go riding and really annoyed with myself.

So I rode to the pub for a pint....

Managed to get over to Rotorua for a ride this morning.  We've had some pretty big storms the last week or so and I almost didn't go out but I had a great time . The trails there ride really well after a bit of rain and I had one of those perfect days where I felt good on the climbs and confident on the downs .  I've been riding mtbs for about 30 years now and when you have a ride like that it still does wonders for me . Mountain biking is blummin brilliant.

Set off with bright sunshine for an afternoon ride with a mate. The main trails had cleared pretty well, few puddles and slop, but a massive change from the last 5 weeks or so. There's something about riding as the sun sets and you switch your lights on, and the trails take on another feeling. Can't beat it.

Glorious day in the 'Foyle yesterday. Car park was hoachin', but the crowds disperse the second you get more than 100 metres from a scone.

Lots of wind damage to the top section of Noodle Soup, regrettably - some big trees down. Thankfully, all the best trail features were untouched

Quick 30 km on the SS gravel bike.

Gave the BB7 brakes a strip down & service, with new cables & outers, over the weekend, so they're now feeling nice & smooth! Was going to replace the chain, chainring & cog too, but ordered a 110 BCD chainring rather than 130, so that job will have to wait until the new one arrives.

Grey, a bit showery, but not quite as unrelentingly grim.as it has been ...

It was almost back to normal service today, but to be fair, there were short periods of sun between the heavy rain showers. Ground is still a total quagmire though.
