It's Friday. For some if us, that means it's the weekend already!
Up to Stainburn for a couple of hours with a couple of mates. Beautiful wintry conditions. Grip was a bit unpredictable at times, going from frozen rough sandpaper to melted-frost sniper roots, but an excellent ride ...
Just landed back in Dublin after a week away and an overnight flight home - horrible. Too tired to ride, but with the rain on the way, didn’t want to miss the chance either. Trails were nice. But my goodness, it was Baltic!

After 5 days riding an ebike around dry and dusty trails in warm sunshine with Enduro Malaga, the return to a "proper" bike and UK conditions on yesterday afternoon's ride was a bit of a shock. Worth it for the view from Holmbury Hill though and the feeling of being properly shattered.
Great pictures guys.
I'm on a self enforce ban from riding for a short while as i seem to have damaged some tendons in my arm and really should let it recover rather than make it worse.
Had a great ride yesterday. Solo as my mate bailed because it was cold. I'm normally aware of grabbing a photo to post on here, but I completely forgot. Trails are still running pretty good, just a few sticky climbs.
I shall take extra pics next week to make up for it.
Not ridden for two weeks due to hols and a lack of motivation. Was keen to get out today regardless of the conditions, Which started damp, threw in a dry spell as a bit of epic weather trolling and then properly hosed it down for the rest of the ride. My seat post attempted to disassemble itself after a couple of hours so we took that as a cry for help, and headed out the woods for a well earned pasty.
Trails were surprisingly good. Pretty grippy, not too much mud. Still some unplanned sideways action on wet roots tho!
Oh and I know there's a few on here that are not fans of the rear "UglyGuard" but on days like today, it's a mandatory component fo my wet weather kit! Talking of which, Goretex 5-10s, Gore Rain Jacket and Endura MT500? trousers did the job.
Managed to get out last night for a head clearer around the local woods. Annoying conditions with half frost and half clag. Still enjoyed it though!
Had stuff to do for most of the day, and also the hill was blanketed in deep fog. So I only went for a quick blast in the afternoon, after most of the fog had dissipated. The views were stunning.

Somewhat taking the jeopardy from what's coming next, I fixed the seatpost. Hmm, fixed is probably too strong a word. Let's go with re-assembled 🙂
Somehow this small act of simple maintenance spawned a 1000 words of nonsense: https://www.pickled-hedgehog.com/remember-summer/
We had the trifecta of windy, rainy and cold today so couldn't be arsed taking the bike out and having to clean it afterwards. So just a dog walk and rollers sweatfest today. Looks like it might dry up tomorrow so will try and get out for a longer road ride, its been a while.
Superb, laugh out loud fun late afternoon/ early evening from Bucknell to Hopton and everything in between. Very muddy, and every rock and root was on a mission to kill us 🤣 you know when you’ve committed to some pretty full on stuff, there is that opportunity for a momentary pause as you look down and think there is no way me AND my bike are getting down that together 😆 but given the only other option is to slide down on your back sans bike, it’s laugh out loud and try to miss as many trees as possible 🙂 brilliant fun. Mainly because we survived unscathed 🤣😆 and we even managed to squeeze in some decent drops n jumps.
I’m also sure my vision at night, even with pretty good lights is getting worse. I blame age. Or varifocals.
We saw several groups of deer, owls, a family of badgers and a very brave hare, great night to be alive, I’ll chip the mud and dried slop off my bike in the morning.
The only pics I got were taken when it was dark and you could just make out the mist coming into the valley floor. The pictures don’t do it justice but they make it look a lot lighter than it was!
Was going to go for a damp one before the big Sheffield footy derby.
But currently lay in bed with a coffee listening to the rain, that was supposed to have stopped now, currently absolutely hammering it down.
Even with an ebike, the drysuit, Hydromatic gloves and goretex boots, I can't bring myself to go out in this
From @trusty phone. A decent ride on both sides of the valley. Some parts really dry, others proper winter filth. Good to get out twice this weekend. Quite tired now.
Childcare plans slightly fell through so no road ride for me today. Probably just as well as it was bloody cold and I still don't have any winter gloves. Went out for a quick ride in the slop from yesterday's rain with my son anyway and we had a great time. Every puddle ridden through with feet up, and I showed him the classic tyre buzz/fart technique which he found hilarious 🙂 suspect it'll be a feature on all future rides together now.
