Not here anyway. It should be dry and cool. It’s wet and warmer than normal.
Pre-dawn ride in the misty forests. Ayup battery died and had to borrow from my mate. Punter around on the rockiest tracks and still got filthy. Class.

summer's disappeared here 😪 despite some optimistic forecasts for the weekend earlier this week!
El Niño having an impact 🤔 I guess we'll see...
I've went from recently riding in shorts and t-shirt and sitting in the garden in the sun on my lunchbreak, to putting the heating back on and having lights on in the house during the day.
Shite forecast for the weekend too, but I'm still going to go for a ride.
June here in Saddleworth has been wetter than the last 3 months .. Never seen water fall like it .
Reeksy2s eagerly anticipated trip to NV Gravity Park tomorrow has been postponed because it’s too wet for riding there. Bugger.
its supposed to be woodfire weather but the cloud and rain means it’s not getting below 15 degrees overnight.
Grrr! WTF has Summer gone?
Thursday it pi**ed it down all day, and then we had another 2 hour dump mid - late morning today! Friday is my NWD and invariably I do a ride of some kind.
Headed out anyway. My fastish summer tyres (blue line Nobby Nic/Rock Razor) immediately proving pretty sketch in the woods (almost stacked it at the bottom of the first descent!) so settled for a bit more of an XC ride instead. Absolutely filthy out, especially in the woods, but at least it was dry & sunny whilst I was riding ...
Had. Lovely, short sunny ride on my local trail on Cavehill. It’s the driest trail I know! I haven’t had time to try anything else. Hoping for drier weather soon.
Ride from Llangollen yesterday with Dale who lives locally and who I’ve done a few events with. Thanks to the forumites who gave advice.
We did road to Worlds End and then back off road over the top. Then down to the aquaduct, up a steep road on the other side for a final rocky blast back to town
The wind was wild but the sun came out save we had a fab time. I probably have better pictures stuck in the camera
Back out today for second ride on "Mr Whyte". 1050m of climbing in 25km. Fuelling myself here, as the bike still has plenty of amps 🙂
Up and out early to beat the heat (currently 36 in the shade, chilling by the van for a bit and then a short walk into Moncayo to watch a local road race and drink a few cold beers
We're not sitting in the sun
Rode the Batch Burner today over the Long Mynd. Bit blustery but overall lovely weather and pretty dry. Could get used to these views.
We have been uprating the suspension ready for next weeks tour. Went alot easier than expected.
Managed a quick local blast after
A local shakedown ride on the FlareMAX today after replacing the drivetrain and the rear wheel and having the shock serviced. Fortunately, everything went OK with just a bit of twiddling of the barrel adjuster on the shifter. It was a nice day in the woods.
The heather is coming in to bloom. It almost matches my frame.
And it's orchid season.
I always start with low expectations regarding the weather! Bit of drizzle today and very windy but ground conditions decent.
Scoped out a local dh track we’ve not ridden before. Definitely not the right conditions as everything was as slippery AF.
But a fun morning nonetheless.
The hogweed is 9ft high and rising.
Loop to Philips park to get more familiar with the new features, still quite a few I can't ride well.
Bumped into the Manchester "backyard ultra" on the way back, they must have been on loop 20 at 8am, so 130km!?!?! Some of them looked very fresh.
Spent yesterday and this morning digging out a bastard of a tree stump in the back garden. So I went for a quick spin this afternoon once it was out.
Also managed to drive home with my helmet on the roof of the van, bit lucky there!
3rd consecutive ride day. Range anxiety no longer a thing after 55km/1400m of climbing left me with 50% battery (I did have the extender plugged in). Trails were running mint in the Yat, I'm super impressed with this bike going up and down. Another ride tomorrow 🙂
Not had time for any inspiring riding lately - just a bit of off road commuting really and not very exciting as a result. Just too much going on at work and home, and also weather has been a bit pants
Rectified that today - I've just got on the train on the way back from an absolutely belting ride.
Late start for me - waiting until the trails got quiet and fortunately that's coincided with probably the best weather of the last couple of weeks 👍
Trails in the woods a mixed bag - plenty of slick/mud around for sure. Moorland stuff running prime. Legs even felt great, which was surprising due to lack of beastings lately.
Flipping heck I love mountain biking 😀 The ride today has properly sorted me out after the stress of the last couple of weeks
Back from my lil holiday in HMP STW cos I'm a bad man...
Yesterday, decided I was going to ride up the hill, do most of the High Peak Trail, drop across to Chee Dale/Millers Dale and come back on the Monsal Trail. 35 miler. Done it a couple of times on the gravel bike, but lacking fitness ATM was going to be ebike.
Levo motor is being a bit of a whiney so and so at the moment, so it's going off for a refurb. Enter stage left the Kenevo. Checked chain last week, a good chunk of stretch, so ordered a new one. Fatal mistake #1 - do bike maintenance right before a ride. Everything had been working fine before the new chain. A mile in, skipping gears and ultimately, chain over lowest gear into the spokes. Fished it all out, set off, snap, home I went.
Not to be defeated, took the meat powered bike for a loop of the moor. Jesus I'm unfit!
Today, did Saturday's planned ride on the Levo. Motor bitched a bit but settled down. 35 mile, 2200ft, brutal headwind for 20 miles, got home with 20% battery. Was a much needed head clearer
A few from yesterday and today...
Left my ride until later on Sunday and got the best of the weather and trail conditions. Manky muddy patches in places, slick mud in others but generally great.
Overlooking the distant big hills of the Trosachs and beyond:
And my favourite local summit - Dumyat, again. Just over the top-right of the trig point the plume of dark smoke was a distant fire at an industrial unit in Livingston.
Love those pics @welshfalmer. That last view is very familiar 🙂
Fourth day owning an ebike. Fourth ride. Took the "red pill" and rode with my riding bud in a "how many trails can we do in an hour" mode. Ended up being 1hr20 including a trip back to his van for brake pads. In that time we rode 10 trails, 1000m and 20km. Have to say I've always considered the "get to the top of the hill as fast as possible, ride down as fast as you can, repeat until battery or arms run out" as a bit pointless.
Fair to say my opinion may have changed a bit 🙂 Also worked out the repeated scrapes on the motor skid are a) because it is a pretty low BB/motor and b) someone though the last delineation on the shock was 30% when actually it was 40%. Oops.
I am blooming loving this bike. Not just because it's an ebike, but because it's so nice to ride downhill. Proper trail monster even in my hands!
