Anyone got experience of both - worth the investment to increase grip in the wet and potentially icey conditions?

cheers

I have the Marathon Plus on both our Bromptons, no punctures in a year of riding them, worth it for that alone (bit more pricey than the Marathon though at £24 a tyre...), seem plenty grippy to me also!

thats a big investment - did you try the standard marathons or just go straight for these?

marathons are great. Used them on my Airnimal all last winter.

Now running Duranos and they're nowhere near as puncture resistant or grippy in the wet.

I hated the Brommy tyres that came with it, especially on wet man holes. Slidier than a slidy thing. Much prefer the Schwables. Lets face it, a Brompton is about convience and not performance so a little more rolling resistance (can't say I noticed the difference) verses gripper and it's a done deal.

marathon is the only option for everyday brompton usage (as i do) and for the £10 upgrade on a new bike is a no brainer..

you are bound to move to marathon eventually so just do it from the start.. brompton tyres seem to cut easily.

grip is the same for both, but marathons are far more dependable in terms of puncture and glass resistance...

def get marathons!! if you want to go mad then go for pluses guy here got an upgrade on a new bike to plus via Simpson cycles for a deal, but ordinary marathons are fine.

re icy conditions, unless you have studs, no tyre gives you grip on ice.
