hey, second to last is my position! I managed that in three consecutive Soggy Bottoms at Newnham one year.

No shame in that: you finished!

You're not supposed to do well in your first race (unless you're Chris Hoy/etc...)

2 races more than I, occasionally wonder if entering a race might encourage me to ride more often (easier to motivate myself) but seeing as I am perversely proud of my absolute dead last on my first Merida marathon (long route so was also last to cross line, full stop) it may be counter productive!

I just did the first race (my first race also). Am entering on Sunday though for my second.

Tracker1972 - it definatly does make you ride more often. I have been making sure I get out mid-week, even if its just an hour and a half on my road bike.
