Looking at a new steed for my wife. She likes the look of the Trek 6300 WSD and the Felt Q7FW.

I reckon the felt looks slightly better spec wise - any opinions.

Is there any others for £600-£700 we should be considering?

Riding is peaks/pines/dales.

Cheers

Have you looked at some of the Cube bikes ? I've just bought a Cube WS hardtail and it's awesome! Have a look at Chainreaction although I have a sneaky suspicion you could buy them cheaper else where.

must admit I've not looked at the Felt, but got my GF a 4300wsd last year as the frame is finished tidy and plenty ready for upgrades as required

Looking at the spec on the trek - I reckon its pretty poor for the cash.

Just compared the geometry to a 15.5" Gary Fisher Tassajara and they come up remarkably similar - 1mm diff in the effective top tube length - is this an avenue I should be pursuing? Seat tube angle is only 0.5deg diff. Standover is more on the Tassajara.

Trouble is - only place I can find local is Evans Cycles - NOoooooooooo!

Trek do seem pretty good, but I would also look at Scott. They've been doing women's frames for a lot longer than many and the experience may well count. Top tip is to make sure you get her to a shop to try them out. Just try and prime her to think that colour isn't important...! 😉
