hmmmm. popped into lbs today and had alook at the womens Marin 5.7 quad xc
full susser... (still stuggling to find a bike that fits me)...
anyway i quite like this bike but what the heck is it when the 'extra small' size is still too big for me ? its looking like a 15 inch frame ! i really thort i was in for luck after seeing it comes in extra small but it was hopeless... when i did the standover test, the frame was pushing into my body ! so yep you are saying im a tiny tots !
well theres only one real bike out there but very expensive but fortunately for me it fits...and thats the orange diva. still saving up for this bike..
can someone please explain the womens geomatory of frames, if one full susser fits me then why cant other models be of similar proportions ? when they say small size or 'extra small' they should ruddy well well mean it ! lol i think these days they must be making the frames bigger for women cos women are supposed to have longer legs...but hey, there are and must be still lots of small 5ft women out there and bike manufactures shud surely cater for everyone ??
the majority of frames are 15 inch... and thats small or extra small ! no good for 5ft tiney women..duh....
and before you ask..... no the Titus motolite was going to be alot more expensive in the long run as they are titanium frames and to have one built up with top of range spec...... i can easily see why they said some people pay up to 4 grand for one of these bikes !
My girlfriend is approx the same height, and we looked at most models of full suspension bikes. The only two that we found that fitted were the Titus Motolite and the Santa Cruz Juliana. Both these bikes gave the best standover, with the Titus being slightly smaller and more standover. You can get the Titus Motolite in an aluminium frame only, and then get it built up using components from Merlin Cycles at a good price. Shimano parts have gone up quite a bit from last year though. Have you tried the Juliana?
er nope not tried the juliana,,,, thing is ive been spoilt by having a demo on the orange diva and the spec it pretty darn good too !
Mrs JLC here.
I am only 5 foot tall and the titus and the Juliana were the only choice this time last year when we were looking. They cater for us but not at your LBS! Size descriptions are deceptive I got soooooooooo peeved off I ended up doing a chart of it - sad i know but after going all round the country (including Avimore) to try I seemed a sensible option. From memory the Orange is larger, I may be wrong. FYI the full build was less than the orange using Fat treds and Merlin, with XT and Race face. I have the twin of the green fella on your previous Titus thread.
I am so HAPPPPY with my titus he puts a big smile on ,my face everytime.
so you built it yourself then..... uh hum im not mechanical but glad to hear you like the titus
My wife is 5' 4" and has a 15 inch one of these

She has the seatpost at full extension, my son (4' 10") fits it with some standover when both feet on floor.
They call it a 15 inch but that is centre to top, centre to centre is a little over 13 inch.
Not exactly built it myself, bought most the components from Merlin, dropped the frame off and it was built!!! They charged less than £50 to do all the complicated stuff (cannot remember the exact price). Brilliant job!
They have demos of the small looking (not sure of exact size) Cube bike at the bike shop at Whinlatter Forest. It looks nice but the standover is not quite has good.
