Hi all, looking to buy my wife a new bike and honestly don't have a clue what to search for.
She likes to ride to work whenever she can and also to ride around our local lakes etc.
It needs to be on the light side as the bike she has now is rubbish and too heavy.
Got about £500 to spend and would really appreciate some advice from other female ridersor guys that know their stuff 🙂

Cheers

think you may get an entry level ladies trek for that money, sales along soon at some shops, or maybe consider something secondhand with a bit more spec??

Does she want a mountain bike, or something more like a road bike but that will still deal well with light off-road?
How tall is she... tall enough not to need the titchy sizes they make wsd bikes available in?
What does she like and dislike about her current bike, could you upgrade parts instead of getting a whole new bike?

FWIW I got on pretty well with the Scott Contessa series... you should be able to get a 2011 contessa 30 on sale for about £450, but it's still not particularly lightweight.
