It depends on what kind of terrain you are riding on.

For long xc days; probably be fine.

Black runs at trailcentres or the equivalent? I'd get a stinger at least.

I reckon you'd be alright, I rode 2x10 on a Cotic Rocket and had no issues with losing the chain.

You'll be fine without. The front mech will help keep the chainwhere it should be. You might lose the chain occasionally but no more so than running a triple.

Agree, depends on what the trails are like, a Gumut p30 is good also

a straight double, might be a little more prone to losing the chain than a double/bash setup.

i recently lost the guide on my hardtail, there is more noise from the chain, but ive not dropped it yet (while riding - ive bounced the chain off throwing the bike over a fence, but im not sure that counts)
