are a joke of a bike shop. the latest **** up goes a bit like this.

ordered some brakes
a wheel
some bars
and some forks.........

The wheel was out of stock on the site when ordered. ok fair enough.
The bars wear listed as in stock got an email saying there wear no longer in stock 4 days later.
The brakes, one was as it should be the other that was meant to come with a 203 rotor had a 60mm in the box
the forks have no brake mount and this was no stated on the site was a little disappointed and to top it off the rigid forks i bout had 60mm travel. i couldn't say weather this was in the advert or not as the forks are no longer on the site......

i do realize this is not the end of the world.this is just a warning to others that if you want something off winstanleysbikes firstly expect them not to really have it, and if they do have it and it gets sent out expect it to be wrong. Just a word of warning.
Tony

I bought some very cheap Rev's from them last week, very cheap and very quick to arrive 🙂

Utter dog s**t service in my experience...... I'll never shop there again, ever. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

Used them a few times recently
Cheap and rivaled CRC for delivery times
As for out of stock items depends on suppliers
CRC took 10 weeks to notify me of stock arriving
I'd use them again no fear

Hope pick and mix headset
Bottom cap arrived today, ordered new years eve
Top cap was out of stock when ordered have had good comms so far and given date of 11th for it to be in stock, not a problem
Will see how it goes as had similar situation 4 years ago with some Hope brakes, in end I ended up dealing direct with hope who sent them to Winstanleys, who lost them then told me Hope had sent wrong mount when I knew they hadn't, took 2 months to get them, a month of which they where sat at Einstanleys with my name on
Swore I wouldn't use again but everyone deserves a 2nd chance (if cheapest 😉 )

I bought my Kona Unit off them and they were spot on.

The bike arrived in only a few days and they were great to deal with.

I did phone them first though to make sure they had the bike in stock.

I would use them again, but would always check on availability before ordering.

Have bought loads of kit from them since about 2008 and only once has there been a problem - wrong part supplied, quickly remedied. Have also visited the shop aka industrial unit a couple of times - friendly helpful staff and a Tardis-like stock of bits.

They often have curiously inexpensive parts on sale but the golden rule, as ever, is to never order an item that isn't in stock becuase then you are in the hands of the distributor

I bought some M4s and a Whyte 19c from them, both on clearance so massive discount, A1 service and v quick delivery on both occasions. Would definitely use them again.

It was just a BB removal tool, but they faffed me about for what seemed weeks with many emails about not in stock, alternatives, extra costs...

Then out of the blue the one I originally ordered plopped onto the door mat.

Never again.

Used them a few times now & their prices are often as good as OR better than CRC & postage is swift.

Their Hope / Crest wheels were the cheapest I could find & I have just got a set of 29ers after a set of 26s last year.

I have also used Merlin a bit recently who are also cheaper for some things.....

They're only about 15 minutes from me, so I've never ordered online, but they have always been very helpful and friendly when I go to the shop/industrial unit.

Used them a couple times, not had any issues. Would use again as prices seem good. If I want straight away i'll go local.

Doesn't sound great - I got my Attack Trail from them a couple of years back and they were excellent (plus the price was awesome) but I haven't ever had any customer service experiences with them.

Bought a bike from them - big discount and they gave me another £30 off to collect it in a box - cos I was too impatient to let them build it and send it out.

I'd use again no problems.

Mistakes get made. I've had dubious customer service and the wrong stuff turn up from CRC, Merlin, Evans, SSC (etc etc) on odd occasions before now, but still continue to use them because its one of the risks of mail order and cheap prices. Unless you turn up at a shop, eyeball the exact item you're buying and proceed to purchase, then people are only human and mistakes get made.

Not the best but still fine, some ups some downs

The downs I believe we're genuine errors

Definitely no worse than planet x/ on-one

I ordered a couple of bits from them before Xmas which was my first order and arrived 2 days later, no problems.

Used them a couple of time in the last month and, although I'm not sure I'd risk buying out-of-stock goods, prices and speed of delivery (24h PF) of the in-stock items I bought was excellent

my main issue with stanleys is them taking money for out of stock and even discontinued items. crc manage to display when something is out of stock. bought a frame from crc and minutes after it showed out of stock. why cant stanleys have the same system

I had a bit of Hope kit on order from Winstanley's once. They kept promising next week, Hope say next week. Eventually I phoned Hope and they said "Nah, it's discontinued". Next week, Winstanley's- Hope say next week.

They can be a good shop but they can also be a pain in the bum.

Try High On Bikes, we visted their warehouse yesterday and thought we had gone to heaven. Decent blokes too.

Much of the same here, ordered from them twice now. First time the item was out of stock, no notice from Winstanleys until I started asking questions 2 weeks later. Refunded ok once I'd asked for it, but really shouldn't have to.

That was several years ago, just ordered again before xmas, slow to send out first item (but it was xmas so ok), second never appeared, I checked with them, out of stock, ordered another colour and was dispatched pretty quickly. Eagerly await it's arrival. I was only tempted as the item was much cheaper here than elsewhere.

So if you're in no hurry and don't mind chasing up orders I guess they're ok, but i'd only bother again for massive discount, life's too short for the hassle to be honest!

Used them once and they were faultless.

Did they acknowledge the issues of OP...?

When companies get it wrong, it's always interesting to see how they respond..

not really they should said that the brake was not there fault and did not have an answer when asked why he sold me some handle bars he did not have when described as in stock on there site....... its the the first time and i am sure it wont be the last. they do get another chance when they are the cheapest.

just an update on stanleys customer service skills.

when i called about the wrong brake i asked whe the wheel would be with me, and i was told it was in the post to me and would recive a tracking number...... i called again today and the wheel is still not in stock and have had no tracking number sent, (no surprise) so i have officially given up with [s]win[/s]lose stanleys. and judging from this thread they get about 50% of orders correct.

my advise if u need it within a week use anyone but stanleys.

In my experience they do. I've used them loads and during the past week have ordered several BMX parts, all of which have shown 'out of stock' once ordered and all despatched within 24 hours. Top service for me and very quick to reply to email queries too.

Used many times, never a problem. Had a warrantly claim with SRAM/Rockshox with them which they dealt with faultlessly.

Would definitely use again.

well why did they take £75 for some handle bars and then wait a few days to tell me they wear discontinued? clearly not the best system
