[Closed] Will ipad 2 stick around once ipad 3 comes out?

Just wondering if ipad 2 will immediately be discontinued or if it will be around for a while like iphone 3GS is still available even though iphone 4 is out?

Yes, it's apples normal tactic, though usually it's quite a basic model IIRC.
I'm don't check often, but I'm surprised to find the iPad 1 is no longer for sale on the apple site (must have happened lately?).
Though you can still buy re-furbished iPad 1 from them.

When iPad2 came out I'm pretty sure the iPad1 was only available till stock ran out (and after that as refurbs). I suspect that when iPad 3 comes out it will be different as now Apple want to take on the education/text book market. Therefore a cheap model for school use makes a lot of sense. There is even rumours that they will do a iPad2 with a lowly 8Gb of storage for such a market. There's a chance they will only be sold through the education store though (as they have done with low end iMacs/iBooks/MacBooks/eMac in the past).
