Hi all,
My Whyte 805 2011 is coming round to its first birthday, so it time for some upgrades.
I've had to rebuild the the hubs several times with fresh grease so a set of wheels with sealed cartridge bearings is definitely on the list, I was thinking of some factory build Mavic Wheels, probably the Mavic Crossrides.
Secondly I've had to have the forks (RockShox Recon Silver TK) rebuilt as a result of the Northants mud getting in (no I didn't jet wash them or any other such bad treatment). My old bike has some 2000 ish Marzocchi Bomber z3 Lights on and I still think they are fantastic, so was planning to stick with Marzocchi however I'm not sure about air sprung forks as I've not really used them before, I'm happy to be convinced though 🙂 I'm also happy to be convinced another brand is reliable.
Budget wise I'm thinking around £160 for wheels and around the £350 mark for the forks. Cheaper is better but a bit more isn't a problem.
I tend to hit the red runs at trail centres and that sort of level of riding on the local trails.
I'm looking forward to reading your advice, opinions etc
Just a thought but I thought I'd mention I ride it all year round so any suggestions need to be mud proof 🙂
