I know its probably obvious case of hands coming into contact with the floor first but anything else to it? And what can I do to stop them from hurting so much next time (other than simply not crashing).

You could try wrist protectors, or learning to roll instead of putting your hands out ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tuck and roll rather than putting your hands out when you crash.

๐Ÿ’ก Probably cos whilst they're exerting a death grip on your h'bars they get wrenched off at considerable force & the tendons/muscles/ligaments don't like it. ๐Ÿ’ก

Do try and roll though/not stick your arms out as it makes you less likely to break an arm/wrist/collar bone.

Try not to lock joints as well you need somewhere for the energy to go and if you have your arms locked out then something is going to give.

Of course this advice is great as long as you remember it while rapidly heading towards the ground.
