OK, so the girl in my office came in and said her gear cable has broken.
No problem says I, bring it in and I'll fix it for you.
Next day she brings it in, and I bring in a spare cable.
It's got SRAM 7 speed twisty grip shifter things on it. So poking around I cant figure out how to get the cable out. But there is a screw holding to two halves togther. Thought I'd just loosen that....
oops....
so now I have the shifter in two halves, and to add to my woes a little metal U shaped bracket fell out. ****socks!
So, any idea how it goes back together again and how you fit the cable to these crappy shifters?
Wish I'd kept my big mouth shut ๐
Is she pretty? ๐
it's pretty simple but not to describe in words...try googling
I've not played with those in years but the ones I use to play with did indeed have to come apart to replace the cable. They again, you also needed specail gripshift 1.1 mm cables for them as well.
It was basically a case of move the brake lever, slide the sifter apart and then feed a new cable in similar to how the old one came out. never a very elegant process I must say. Hated the things with a passion I did.
If she's fit, offer her some rapidfire shifters from your spares bin.
To make matters worse....no ๐
Bulldog, piss and thistles...you get the idea.
It's Friday, leg it without her seeing and you won't need to worry about it until next week

Too late. I said I'd take it home over the weekend and fixed it. Loaded it in the car and smashed the plastic mudguard on it now as well.
Fan****intastic.
Bloody hell.
Work on it 2morro.
Don't ride, don't even eat. Just lock yourself in a padded cell till 2morro.
Sram website will have instructions.
could be worse, you could have offered to do it while she waits!
Fake a car break-in, smash a window etc and loose the bike. Lesser of two evils.
