I was going to use the Post Office but their sporting add on excludes cycle touring

Do you need an add-on?  In our last two single trip policies only cycle competition and training related riding were exclusions but other riding appeared to be covered under the base policy (or at least the level of cover we picked).

Whether you want to rely on that from a mainstream insurer taking a different view of the meaning of that type of exclusion for a two week tour might be another question I suppose.

^ This.

Go with someone who will understand what a bike tour is.

I don't take out insurance for cycle touring in Europe. My GHIC card covers medical emergencies. If I have to cancel, my upfront costs are 2 easyjet flights. If something goes wrong I'll get a train to the nearest airport and get a cheap flight home. I'm quite hoping my bike gets nicked as it's 14 years old and I fancy a new one.

I went with Pedal Cover as already used them for home insurance. YellowJersey often get recommended but not used them (although possibly underwritten by same people as do Pedal Cover's travel insurance)
