ME!
10 mile night ride in the freezing cold with the eldest. I think I prefer riding in the dark at the moment - which is just as well really.
Who else - where've you been?
Who rode a bike today then?
**** no!
Went for a run, tho.
To work this morning
Home again this eve
i cycled to work then cycled back just like any other day. boring!
Yep I did around mk then my gears went awol and I had to limp home in 9th gear 🙁
A KTM around the hills north of Malaga, with 250cc of four stroke assistance 🙂
Yep - couple of hours around the cheek of Cannock and managed a comedy fall into the biggest puddle on the chase 😳
my friend showed me a new way into cragg quarry....
we ended up walking around the moors till it was nearly dark then we managed to find the path leading up from coupe (wear we would normally go up) to have to ride straight down.........
15.5 local miles today..Was a cold wind and very wet,was ok though
20 miles round thetford today very churned up which made it feel like an epic ride.
A slow pootle around the local area today, most of it in the mud! 10 miles or so.
Also at Bennachie, did you follow our tracks?
Didn't see any tracks, but if you were following mine you'd have seen a lot of footprints 😳
My resolution to ride a metric century every month dragged me out on a 70 mile, hilly club ride. Quite nice really.
i built and gravelled a big downhill run of jumps and drops the other day, and me and my youngest boy went and debuted them today on my enduro and bfe, good times! the kind of day so many people in the real world would describe as childish. but what would they know!
85 cold wet road miles. I'm glad I got out but I wish it was a bit nicer. Mtb tomorrow.
Today i rode a kalkhoff electric bike, a kids specialized hotrock converted into a jump bike, a specialized demo 8, a lapierre sensium 300 road bike and a Lapierre zesty 514...i do work in a bike shop though and each ride was for no longer than a minute or two to make sure everything worked as it should.
I may get out tomorrow to ride my own bike if i get finished on my mates farm at a decent time in the afternoon, otherwise i'll put my feet up in front of the fire wi a big glass o' whisky and read a book.....the "read a book/whisky" bit sounds better than a bike ride in the cold if i'm honest.
Had a road ride out by Glamis, 27 miles. It was pretty dreich.
No ride today.
Stitches out Sunday morning,
so first ride since new years day in the morning.
I rode 15+ miles of cycle paths near Whickham on my new Pomp while the kids rode round a BMX track doing cx training. I've ridden every day so far this year.
Had my best day out in YEARS on the bike at Hamsterly. I've been a bit rusty lately but today everything flowed perfectly. You know, when you know you're going fast and smooth and every corner links together beautifully? It was one of THOSE days today.
If I hadn't been to teh pub last night I might have enjoyed the climbs a bit more!
Was amazed how dry the Marin was today! First time there and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Road ride.
Looked at the MTB in the corridor on the way out. Sighed wistfully and stroked the handlebars. Hold on my friend, hold on. Spring's coming soon!
went out on my singlespeed - rode from home, through Clumber to Sherwood Pines and did 2 laps of the red route and rode back again -40 miles- legs were feeling it on the way home! 🙂
Really sunny, but a cold wind - had a fox run in front of me too.
Yes and my feet are still cold now!
Short wet ride at Haldon. Good to get out though.
14miles round pines this morning. Sunny and not to cold as it happens
Meeeeeeeeeeeee 🙂
Went for a spin round Tunnel Hill, lost the route I was trying to follow and did a couple of laps of the Brass Monkeys course instead. Rear brake failure cut the ride short which was a bit of a bummer, but otherwise it was a cracking if cold ride 🙂
Good luck to everyone tomorrow, it's a fun course!
I took my Pitch out for the first time since before the Kielder 100. done the back of Skiddaw loop, at first it felt sluggish then made the trails too easy. But once I dropped down from Skiddaw House it felt right again. Really enjoyed it, not a bad day at all, just a bit nippy and a head wind.
No but my son did when we went for a walk up Crooks Peak, does that count?
Yup. Dark peak....
Had a brilliant ride today - nice and sunny,
cold at first but perfect conditions on the
ground. Good company, and I felt good on
the bike which translated to my riding -
everything I wanted to do worked, it was
ace.
And to top it all, I cleaned cavedale. Might
not mean much to riding gods, but it's my
second ever time without a dab. It was the
icing on the cake of a top ride.
Here's to your top rides of today
Me! Just over 5 miles to the local Parkrun, ok time for a 10 week absence and 5 miles back. Very enjoyable.
Nope! Some scumbag stole mine on Friday - Spent the day researching a new steed though!
I rode up and down my road to test out my new wheel build and thats as far as I got. Aiming to get up Clent tomorrow for a little ride if the rain/snow holds off.
I did, quick 30 mile flat ride on, cough, erm, a road bike. Was cold, but full winter thermals, buff, hat, full goggles, waterproof gloves, overshoes and a steak bake, custy.
No sign of this snow otherwise MTB would be out.
The usual mostly off road commute on a titanium single speed 29er in lycra. 😛
25 miles in Swaledale, 1st ride in 8 weeks & I felt it!
Sadly not, but did an hour on the spinner while watching the football. I'm a Villa fan - as if an hour of spinning wasn't painful enough... 🙁
CX ride with Clubber of this parish. My first time on a bike in a few months (embarassingly). It hurt but it was good 😀
Was down at Glentress today. A glorious day for riding.
Guilty of a few expletives due to being battered by the wind. Never good to start on a ridge! For half of the ride it rained but finished with a little warm glow for toughing it out.
Not sure whether I have any energy to go out tomorrow. 😳
Yes. Took the eldest in to town on the back of the Cargo-Bike, did some shopping. He insisted on standing on the deck & holding on to my shoulders all the way back on the cycle path. We had some funny looks.
Yes, rode Saturday. Only about 6 miles, though. It was mid 60s F; that's not normal for January, so had to do at least a short ride. Lots of rain over the last couple of days, so the On-One Fatty earned her keep again! And the PDW Mud Shovel fenders were worth their weight in gold!
Had a shred in the Perth(Australia) hills this morning with some good lads from the local trail building group, prob the last not too hot ride for the next 3 months, will need to start hitting the trails at 630am soon.
Conditions were loose and dusty; funny the trails suffer here in the summer like uk trails do in the winter, get blown out and grip drops right off. Don't need to clean the bike tho-always a bonus!
Rode round Graffam Water to in christen my GF's brand new Marin East Peak 5.5 which she bought in the shop there.
Only 9 miles and mainly flat, but surprisingly muddy in this circuit. I don't think it would be too great in summer when pedestrians are out in force, because there are signs at the top of each hill telling you to dismount.
6th ride this year (pats self on back).
I am in that rather unusual but dreamy position of having a partner who has very similar interests to me. It's been a very very long time coming! 😀
54K XC ride in 20 degrees and sun (just to rub it in). 8)
A good humoured but hard race team training session.
Just off for a regular club 100km very soon.
41 miles on the roadie out to Tosside and back, no traffic in Bowland, fantastic ride though windy and cold.
went for a ride in local woods in Halifax. Like riding through treacle (especially with supertacky swampthings). I've forgot what dry trails look like!
45 miles on the road.
Light snow flurries, wind and sun!
To work and back again. Same today.
Did the 40km Trailbreak ride in Shackleford, absolutely minging - muddy, cold and muddy. Coming back from injury this was the first proper ride since the end of october and it was muddy and painful. Also enjoyed a puncture and couldn't feel my fingers as I fixed it - fortunately that was not in the mud but in the sandy bit, did I mention the mud?
Couldnt get down to Herts so just a local play on hemlock hill. There was a yoof in a track suit pulling crazy whips, often landing on his face but still going back for another go. Couple of guys in full Sam Hill/ Steve Peat replica gear who were bimbling round too.
I had a good session, hit the step-up on to the cliff a half dozen times and had a go at the new jumps that have sprung up over winter. My mate who is fairly new to mountain bikes hit the 18 foot step down double and loved it, proper pleased for him!
We had a dusting of snow last night but we're heading back with a brush in an hour for another go! Have a good one all.
12 mile on the singlespeed in the white peak with the wife.
Fixie blast into town to see mates then bought some gloves because all my riding gear is darn sarf ... Lovely long lunch and coffee, pootle around some bike shops in a very quiet Shiney Town.
Glentress 2 test the new steed 2 red runs good day 4 it and
well enjoyed
Went to ambleside rode a route round rydal water. Tore the rear mech off in the first 10 mins pushed / coasted the rest still enjoyed it to be fair
just got in from a little mooch..
I'm trying to get an hour per day in this year, every morning with at least one decent all day ride per week on top..
I'm managing to shoehorn about 8 miles and 1250ft of elevation into an hour [/strava tart] but had to take it a bit easy this morning cos my knee's slightly inflamed again..
Snow stops play (for now ),maybees later.
Struggling to get the enthusiasm back for riding. Nowt since 8th December....
got out yesterday for the first time in ages, nice little ride on the singlespeed to check a commute route for a job starting Monday. Note to self - NEED TO GET OUT MORE!
MEEEEE
1st ride on the rocky altitude 50.... 1st real ride in 3 months... with one of my mates who rides everyday in life... and he decided to take me a new route he's found... basically out the door and climb for 700meters.....then start working our way back down the hill....70m into the decent my front wheel sinks into marsh i go over the handle bars lol.. was ok continued the decent great fun but a bloody killer.... the looks on some of the hill walkers going past us with walking poles ect.... as we bomb down the hill was priceless 🙂
Struggling to get the enthusiasm back for riding. Nowt since 8th December....
same as that. Apart from the short work commute I only had a few off-road rides in the whole of last year.
I keep reading this forum though so I am hoping the mojo will return...
Yep
Out this morning with 2 others for our usual off road ride around the tracks in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
Temp of about -1 with all the gloopy tracks frozen into hard ruts which were particularly difficult where the horses have ripped them up. All the puddles were frozen over & it was great fun crashing through the middle of them & shattering the ice.
It was pretty cold with the odd snow flake but did 19mi - which was a bit less than usual - but at least we were out!
Yep, quick 10 miler yesterday evenin after work and an even quicker 6 miler this morning before I go and devour a megaroast dinner.
Thirteen miles on Cannock Chase doing Follow the Dog, the Monkey and some cheeky trails. Pity there are still sections closed on the Monkey, about time the FC pulled their finger out and got it open again.
Just back from doing FTD again this morning and some other cheeky stuff. Very busy up there this morning.
20Km CX ride but the weather did get a little cold, reached 14 degress at one stage!
62 miles of numb toes and cold fingers, just getting warm again. No snow just yet either.
Yeah done a fun little mash around local Boars hill 13KM in 1 hour 47 minutes, expecting that to be a 1 hr loop in the dry.
Also bent my big front ring on a tree as I misjudged a corner and ended up kind of bunnyhopping around it, but not enough and crashing into the side with my front cogs 🙁
wet ride on jones yesterday, I had forgotten how much fun that bike is. Frozen fat bike mosh around cannock today, lots of folks asking about my massively impressive frontage ....and my tyres. 😀
40 miles today off road. Did it with gears to be different with Racing Ralphs, which required a bit of oppo to keep it straight, but not as bad as I was expecting. Pushed hard to try and warm up, but it never happend, just got more numb. Loved it, just lighting the fire and feet up now. Bliss.
A quick 7 miles from Hayfield, to Rowarth, Lantern Pike and home. Pretty nippy but god fun.
A nice 2 hour pootle around the Roman Lakes.
Did my good deed of the day and gave an innertube and lent the pump to a newbie couple who were normally roadies.
Cold and crisp, with fairly dry trails. Lots out with the nice sunshine.
Snowing now 🙂
60kms today mostly off road around the German/Dutch border. Pretty cold at -4 degrees but the ground was nicely frozen so dry all the way round - no mud and no bike cleaning. Fish finger sandwich, chunky kitkat and a latte to finish. Now defrosted and in front of the TV. Marvellous day all round.
Dogsby
No bike ride for me but i did run for an hour and forty five minutes round the North Cotswolds, no point taking the MTB out it's too gloopy and I broke the road bike on Thursday, so its in the menders.
A few hours around my local loop in the Dales. Nicely frozen in parts, very unfrozen in others. Absolutely wasted by about the 20-mile mark - need to put some serious miles in!
Took a while to thaw the toes though.
Steady club run, toast and marmalade for 1.20 in the cafe...55mls, home indoors at 1.30.....cold but bright.
16 squelchy miles on the chilterns
didn't get above freezing but beautiful sunny ride 😀
30 xc miles on a local loop the snow turned a mundane route into a great one http://connect.garmin.com/activity/261706884
