MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Hello,
I've been slowly restoring an old Carlton Pro Am 80's racer for pub/office duties.
I binned the old tan-wall tyres ages ago and am currently deciding on new ones and was hoping you'd help me decide on a cool colour. Options are black, nah... amber wall like the originals, or white walls. Any ideas?
It's not a faithful restoration, more about giving an old bike a new lease of life and doing something cool.
It's a silver colour like this.
I've got those in my Raleigh Randonneur. Not really enough room for them in the back - c. 1mm clearance in the chainstays! Nice and smooth though.
And whatever you do with yours, it's probably going to be a more faithful restoration than mine: Sugino cranks off a 90's Bonty, DMR V8s, Superstar narrow/wide chainring, 1x8 speed, XT mech, DuraAce bar-end shifter (in the wrong side) Specialized Carbon Zertz seatpost. A right dog's breakfast, but lovely to ride!
Wrong size too. This old mare is 27". Nice though.
Tan wall for me, not white.
Something like this….

They do a 28 if that would fit?
And if you wanted to go cheaper….

But looks like 32mm only.
Whitewalls are clearly best - I have these on my old Peugeot

It's becoming more of a commuter though, so once they've worn out I will be swapping them for the far less attractive but probably more practical Gator Hardshells (cheap at crc atm)

That's more like it! Some blue ones of those in 27" x 1" would be awesome.

Check out the Panaracer website (I can’t do links!) they also do a Purple (they call it Pansy) tyre with tan wall.
Edit - Sorry, not in your size!
