I’m tempted to head over the A66 to Whinlatter tomorrow as it’s about the only dry place in England…however its a bit dull IMHO, like most trail centres. So are there any off piste trails there to have a crack at?

Never really understood the comments about trail centres being boring. Just try riding an xc bike with xc tyres fitted. I like winlatter for a couple of hours riding as near to my max heart rate as it'll go.

The entire lake district. Pick a fell. Ride down it. Especially up norf lakes. Why anyone would go to the lakes and ride at whinlatter, except with a total beginner, baffles me.

Havent ridden there in a couple years but there's a fair amount of off piste on the south side, think strava/trailforks has most of the well ridden stuff on it.
There used to be some good off piste in the forrest but recent storms have wreaked havok and most of them are impassable now. Grisedale pike is well worth the effort though and there are some great 'day out' options up that way too, Whiteless pike etc

I live fairly local to Whinlatter so have ridden it hundreds of times. Ride it fast enough and it's good, potter round not so much.
I'm the same breath I would rather do the Bash (my go to natural trail).
