Need some nice new wheels for my inbred, got it set up for a light xc mtb and just need some wheels to finish now as my current ones weight more than my car ones and are missing spokes, so...
Can go to a max of £200, but the cheaper the better obviously, currently the ones I am favouring are the shimano MT65 6-bolts, they weigh around 1800g so very light for the price (£180), but also looking at either the entry level fulcrums or mavic crossride because they come in at £50 odd cheaper. Any one have any experience with any of these wheels, the reveiws for the shimano online are not brilliant, or even any advice on wheels I am missing altogether off the maybe list?
cheers guys
Superstar?
Or push that budget slightly further and get Hope Hoops on 355s.
Superstar are worth a gamble at that price range. Am happy with my superstar singlespeed hub wheel.
317's are cheap, especially with Merlin. Alternatively check out eBay - you'll probably pick up a pair for £80-£120 depending on hubs, etc.
2nd hand hope + 717s?
An extra £30 would get you Stans on Hope Pro 2s from Winstanleys....
+1 for stans pro11, mine weigh 1650gms
Fulcrum RM5s are nice. I have a pair and like them. Avoid the RM10s, they were designed as OEM and are a lot lower spec. The 5s have the same hub internals as the 3s, just with shouldered spokes and less machining. actionsports in germany has a 'lowest European price' guarentee and cheap shipping. That's were I got mine.
The only thing against them is weight, they claim 1805g, but mine came in at 1900 (with tape).
